It's a busy weekend in the Bay with our beloved 49ers taking on the KC Chiefs in the Super Bowl. Watch parties, Valentine's Day events and Lunar New Year celebrations will keep the streets packed. See the first solo exhibition in SF by internationally recognized artist Takashi Murakami. Murakami is a major figure in global pop culture whose influence extends to fashion, consumer products, curation and entertainment. With a boldly colored, upbeat style and a pop sensibility that draws inspiration from anime and manga, Murakami’s accessible and fun creations deliver more than meets the eye. See the ongoing exhibit at the Asian Art Museum, which is 0.2 miles from the Civic Center/UN Plaza BART Station.
 
"MJ: The Musical"

A young Lenape woman, Jane Snake, returns to her ancestral homeland, Manahatta, to work as a securities trader on Wall Street – the once-walled street built by enslaved Africans to keep the Indigenous Lenape out. Set against the backdrop of the Occupy Wall Street movement and across time, Manahatta draws parallels between the forced removal, taxation and fiscal impact on Native Americans during the 2008 financial crisis and the 1626 Dutch purchase of the island of Manahatta/Manhattan. The Aurora Theatre Company presents this stunning performance 0.1 miles from Downtown Berkeley.

"KOOZA" is an innovative journey viewed through the perspective of The Innocent, an endearing yet naïve clown looking for his place in the world. "The Wiz" returns “home” to stages across America in an all-new Broadway-bound tour, the first one in 40 years. This groundbreaking twist on "The Wizard of Oz" changed the face of Broadway – from its iconic score packed with soul, gospel, rock and finger-snapping ‘70s funk to its stirring tale of Dorothy’s journey to find her place in a contemporary world. The Golden Gate Theatre hosts the award-winning show 0.2 miles from Powell St

Jack London Square - Lunar New Year

Jack London Square will celebrate the “Year of the Dragon” with a fun-filled Lunar New Year event in the plaza near Plank. Enjoy a show with lion dancers, martial arts performances, a kids' craft station, dragon selfie photo ops and special giveaways. This event is open to all ages and takes place 0.6 miles from 12th St/Oakland City Center.

Lover's Lane Block Party

Head to SF for a family-friendly celebration that centers on love in all its forms: love for our friends, family and community. This event also expresses love for San Francisco's Mission District and the artists, creators, businesses and people who make it what it is. The event will include music and poetry performances, DJ sets and live mural painting. Take BART to 24th St/Mission and Balmy Alley is 0.5 miles away.

Sweetie Pie Craft Fair

Bathing Culture is hosting a Valentine's market with 18 of their favorite indie artists, makers and vintage sellers so you can shop for something special just in time for "love day." Vendors on site will sell jewelry, ceramics, body care, herbs, vintage items, flowers and more. If you get hungry, Cochinita will be on-site selling tacos! This event is for all ages and pets are invited too. Exit BART at 16th St/Mission and head 0.7 miles to 1975 Bryant St. 

Super Bowl Watch Party

Head to Thrive City at Chase Center for the official 49ers Watch Party. If you can't be at the big game, the "Faithful" are gathering to watch on the big screen! Event entertainment begins at 2:00PM ahead of the 3:30PM kickoff. Fans in attendance will be treated with fan chants, scoring songs and giveaway items. Grab your red and gold gear and get ready to get loud. Take BART to Embarcadero or 16th St Mission and transfer to Muni. Use BART's trip planner or click here for detailed routes.

Get a rush of adrenaline from snagging that one-of-a-kind item you can't find anywhere else. Peruse through a warehouse full of curated items, including home decor, clothes and other donated goods. Save thousands of items from the landfill while supporting the Oakland Museum of California during their annual shopping event. Take BART to Fruitvale and the rummage sale is 0.6 miles away.

North Beach Mardi Gras Parade
Feb. 10 | Montgomery

Get out your handkerchiefs and join the 11th Annual Mardi Gras 2nd Line March featuring drink specials, a healthy assortment of Mardi Gras beads and an open invitation to walk in the parade. Delicious Creole fare will be served, and the dishes include jambalaya, red beans and rice, gumbo and cornbread with honey butter. The festivities start 1 mile from Montgomery Station.

Fairyland - Celebrate Black History Month

Children's Fairyland is honoring the rich history of Oakland's Black community. During February, they're celebrating the ingenuity, contributions, triumphs and culture of Oakland’s African-American community over the last 100+ years. Celebrations include stellar authors, artists and performers all month long. Check Fairyland's schedule for the full list of performers. The main stage is 0.6 miles from 19th St/Oakland.
