Memorial Day weekend is jam-packed with lively events all around the Bay Area. Start your weekend off with good music at the Soundtrack Concert Series at San Francisco's Civic Center or Oakland Unplugged at Groundfloor. Carnaval SF is bringing life to the Mission both Saturday and Sunday, highlighting Indigenous, Latino and Caribbean joy. Carnaval San Francisco

Carnaval San Francisco celebrates the diverse Latin American, Caribbean and African Diasporic roots of the Mission District in the San Francisco Bay Area. This year's Carnaval SF theme is Honor Indigenous Roots, paying special homage to the original peoples of the Bay Area, the Americas and West Africa. The free two–day festival covers 17 blocks in the Mission District, with five main stages, 50 local performing artists, 400 vendors with the Grand Parade traveling down Mission Street on Sunday beginning at 9:30 a.m. The festival includes international food, dancing and entertainment for families and friends of all ethnic, social and economic backgrounds. Take BART to 24th St Mission and find yourself immersed in the sound and color of SF Carnaval festival only 0.1 mile away!

"Funny Girl"

Enjoy this last weekend of musical comedy heaven featuring one of the most iconic scores of all time at the Orpheum Theatre. The sensational Broadway revival dazzles with celebrated classic songs, including “Don’t Rain on My Parade,” “I’m the Greatest Star,” and “People.” This bittersweet comedy is the story of the indomitable Fanny Brice, a girl from the Lower East Side who dreamed of a life on the stage. Everyone told her she’d never be a star, but then something funny happened—she became one of the most beloved performers in history, shining brighter than the brightest lights of Broadway. Written by Jonathan Spector and directed by Jon Tracy, “Best Available” has made its arrival in Berkeley. City Repertory Theater company launches a search for a new artistic director. Who is the best available candidate? Rising star and hometown hero Jonathan Spector interviewed dozens of theater makers to create this satirical tale. Pay-What-You-Can previews begin May 18.
