Hop on BART this Easter weekend and head to a few of the best transit-friendly events in the Bay. With an "Eggstravaganza" of events popping up in every corner of the map, you're guaranteed to find an event the whole family can enjoy. Finish off Women's History Month strong by celebrating Black women creators at Pop-Ups on the Plaza, or watch a free screening of "Barbie" at the PROXY theater. Saxophone great and SFJAZZ Resident Artistic Director Ravi Coltrane performs tributes to his parents, John and Alice Coltrane, and the late great Pharoah Sanders along with performances with his new electric trio and longtime Coltraxx quartet at the SFJAZZ Center. The Telegraph UK declared Ravi as "a worthy heir to his father, jazz legend John Coltrane," and his residency includes notable artists like saxophonist Joe Lovano, pianist David Virelles, bassist Dezron Douglas, drummer Johnathan Blake, Pharoah Sanders' son Tomoki Sanders and more. Over 75 restaurants are participating in the 12th annual Berkeley Restaurant Week. In honor of the excitement around the annual NCAA college basketball tournament, restaurants are offering tiered pricing options like the “Lay Up” from $10-$20 per dish, the “Jump Shot” from $20-$30, the “Three Pointer” from $30-$40 and for those celebrating a special occasion, the “Full Court Press,” starting at $40.  Plus, this year’s theme, "March Mushroom Madness," is a fun one and promises many tasty mushroom and plant-based dishes. On Day 3 of the COVID-19 pandemic, Kristina Wong began sewing masks out of old bedsheets and bra straps on her Hello Kitty sewing machine. Before long, she was leading the Auntie Sewing Squad, a work-from-home sweatshop of hundreds of volunteers—including children and her own mother—to fix the U.S. public health care system while in quarantine. It was a feminist care utopia forming in the midst of crisis. Or was it a mutual aid doomsday cult? The answer to that question is something you’ll have to decide for yourself as Kristina takes you through her journey in this Pulitzer finalist play.
