Bhangra & Beats Night Market

This free event will transform Yerba Buena Gardens, Jessie Square and Yerba Buena Lane into a vibrant cultural celebration with Indian music, dance and food. Enjoy the traditional Punjabi rhythms of bhangra with interactive dance lessons, DJs and open dance floors. You’ll also find a lively outdoor marketplace of food, retail and local vendors. Take BART to Powell St. and walk about 0.2 miles to the event.
Paramount Movie Classics: The Maltese Falcon
July 24 | 19th St. Oakland
7 p.m. | 2025 Broadway
The Paramount Theatre’s Movie Classics series is back. The historic Oakland theater has relaunched its popular 35-millimeter movie series that has been on hiatus since 2018. This week, watch the 1940 film “The Maltese Falcon," starring Humphrey Bogart. Check the Paramount Theatre website for information on theater tours as well. The Paramount Theatre is just feet from 19th St. Oakland.
Oakland Ballers v. Boise Hawks

The Oakland Ballers take on the Boise Hawks for a three-game series in Oakland this weekend. Enjoy Gamer Night at the ballpark on Friday, a “Night of the Living Possum” theme on Saturday and a Halloween in July celebration on Sunday. Head to Raimondi Park to get your fill of baseball. Exit at West Oakland and walk 0.8 miles or jump on the Ballers shuttle or AC Transit 22 bus to Raimondi Park.
Oakland Roots v. Sacramento Republic FC
July 25 | Coliseum
7 p.m. | 7000 Coliseum Way
The World Cup may be over, but there’s still soccer in the Bay Area. Catch the Oakland Roots as they take on the Sacramento Republic FC on Saturday. This special K-pop night at the ballpark will include a drone show. Coliseum Station is just 0.2 miles from the Oakland-Alameda County Coliseum.
Where’s Waldo Local - Rockridge

Enjoy some hide-and-seek fun while you get to know local merchants. Can you find Waldo? He’ll be hiding in 26 different Rockridge businesses during the entire month of July. Families will love joining the scavenger hunt to find the iconic children’s book character. Pick up a game card at any participating business or at Pegasus Books, and begin your search. Disney’s Beauty and the Beast

"Life in Space"

Friday Nights at OMCA with Noodles

Friday Nights at OMCA is a free evening of live music, interactive activities and Off the Grid food trucks. This Friday, the Bay Area DJ known as Noodles takes over the Garden Stage with a genre-spanning style that blends hip-hop, R&B, electronic music and global sounds. The evening starts with a tutting dance lesson with Hector “Intricate” Ascencio and ends with a music set by DJ Fasho. OMCA is just steps (0.1 miles) from Lake Merritt.
North Shattuck Block Party

11 a.m.-6 p.m. | Shattuck Ave. and Rose St.
Head to Shattuck and Rose in North Berkeley for a community celebration with live music, food, drinks, family activities, artisan vendors and more. Two blocks will be closed to traffic for this festive street party. While you’re in the neighborhood, explore the North Shattuck business district and its famous eateries and unique shops. The block party is about 0.8 miles from Downtown Berkeley.
Yerba Buena Gardens ChoreoFest

Enjoy the art of dance in a beautiful, outdoor environment. The Yerba Buena Gardens ChoreoFest is a mini festival of site-specific work, turning the open spaces of the Great Lawn into a showcase of creativity for the Bay Area dance community. The event includes new work by several talented choreographers and dance companies. Powell St. is just 0.2 miles away.

Union Square hosts a screening of The Princess Diaries this Saturday at sunset. Pre-show activities, including movie trivia, prizes, performances, popcorn and drinks, begin two hours before sunset. James Bond Forever with the San Francisco Symphony

If you’re a fan of the music from James Bond films, check out this live performance at the San Francisco Symphony. Conductor Steven Reineke leads this special event, featuring Broadway star Lena Hall and iconic hits from Goldfinger, Skyfall, Thunderball and more. The concert will not include film clips – just the music that you know and love from the movies. Head to Davies Symphony Hall, which is just 0.6 miles from Civic Center/UN Plaza.
Chicken, Chitlins & Caviar

A celebration of African-American culture, Chicken, Chitlins & Caviar is a vibrant music review of rhythm, movement and meaning. From Broadway to R&B, the sounds will transport you through the richness of Black American life. You’ll have two opportunities to catch the show this weekend at the Lesher Center for the Arts. Take BART to Walnut Creek Station, and you’ll be 0.3 miles from the venue.
Matilda: Film with Live Orchestra
July 25-26 | Civic Center/UN Plaza

Catch this special screening of the beloved film Matilda, hosted and narrated live by director and star Danny DeVito. Composer David Newman will conduct his score live-to-picture. A live Q&A with DeVito and Newman will be presented on stage an hour before the performance. This is sure to be a memorable evening with the San Francisco Symphony. Take BART to Civic Center/UN Plaza, which is approximately 0.6 miles from Davies Symphony Hall.
The Spinners at Yoshi’s

R&B vocal group the Spinners bring their smooth harmonies and melodies to Yoshi’s in Oakland for a series of shows this weekend. With hits dating back to the 1970s, the Grammy-nominated group has created a catalog of songs that has made them a lasting force in American music. In 2023, they were inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame. Catch them in action at Yoshi’s, approximately 1 mile from the 12th St. Oakland City Center.
Hairspray: The Musical

Watch the Tony Award-winning musical Hairspray at the San Francisco Playhouse through September 12th. The production, directed by Bill English, brings the 1962 Baltimore story of Tracy Turnblad to the stage with lively music and choreography. Known for its themes of inclusion and standing up for what’s right, Hairspray is sure to be a treat. The Playhouse is about a 0.3-mile walk from Powell St.
