From outdoor movies and block parties to big festivals and free fitness classes, the Bay Area has no shortage of ways to celebrate the end of summer. Jonathan Butler at the Orinda Theatre

South African singer-songwriter and guitarist Jonathan Butler will entertain lucky patrons in the East Bay this weekend. Butler not only earned GRAMMY nominations, but he also broke racial barriers in music and earned international success while staying connected to his country. Head to the Orinda Theatre to catch him live, just 0.2 miles from Orinda Station.

Oakland Roots v. Monterey Bay FC
Aug. 30 | Coliseum
7 p.m. | 7000 Coliseum Way

This weekend, the Oakland Roots are facing Monterey Bay FC. Plus, there’s also a special drone show to celebrate Back to School! Catch the game and the show, 0.2 miles and across the bridge from Coliseum Station.

Millbrae Art & Wine Festival 2025
Aug. 30-31 | Millbrae Station
10 a.m.-5 p.m. | Broadway Ave. (between Victoria Ave. and Meadow Glen Ave.)

Enjoy over 170 artists and crafters, a packed schedule of live music, yummy bites, crafts and more at this end-of-summer street fair. There’ll also be a beer tent and wine tasting. Find the fun 0.5 miles from Millbrae Station.

Children’s Fairyland’s 75th Birthday
Sept. 1 | 19th St/Oakland
10 a.m.-4 p.m. | 699 Bellevue

Celebrate 75 years of magic this Labor Day at Fairyland. You’ll find live performances, giant crafts, giveaways, parades — and witness the debut of its first bilingual puppet show. For a family day full of imagination, head to the party, 0.6 miles from 19th St/Oakland.

“Mean Girls” at The Crossing

Grab your crew and head to The Crossing to catch an outdoor screening of “Mean Girls.” Check out the on-site food and drink vendors and then get cozy watching the ultimate teen drama on the silver screen.  Catch the movie 0.4 miles from Embarcadero.

The San Francisco Giants face the Baltimore Orioles this weekend at Oracle Park. Grab a hot dog and enjoy the game(s)! Take BART to Embarcadero and walk 1.2 miles, or transfer at Embarcadero to the Muni Metro N Line and pop out at the stadium.

Storytime Science for Kids at the Exploratorium

"Storytime Science for Kids: Movers and Shakers" at the San Francisco Exploratorium features a fun storybook read-aloud by Vivian Altmann, followed by a hands-on, age-appropriate activity for children (and their grown-ups) just 0.6 miles from Embarcadero.
