The Berryessa/North San José Station puts passengers within minutes of the iconic San José Flea Market, a lively destination where you can shop, eat, dance and play. This local landmark is filled with vendors, food trucks, live music and family-friendly attractions. Also within walking distance from Berryessa/North San José, you’ll find gardens, trails and libraries. Whether you’re planning a fun family outing, looking for vintage treasures, or just want to kick off the weekend with live music and craft beer, there’s plenty to explore just steps from the station.

Overfelt Gardens Park
This 33-acre community park first opened in 1966. While it’s a nice place to walk, run, picnic and play, the main highlight here is the Chinese Cultural Garden. Built in 1971 to celebrate Chinese culture, architecture and philosophy, the garden serves as a bridge between Eastern and Western societies. While here, you’ll see beautiful landscaping, symbolic structures and traditional Chinese architectural styles. Don’t leave without finding the Friendship Gate and exploring the Sun Yat-Sen Memorial Hall, constructed of marble, bronze and mahogany with a heavy ceramic tile roof. The building was disassembled in Taiwan, shipped to the U.S. and reassembled in San José. Overfelt Gardens Park is approximately 1.3 miles from the Berryessa/North San José.

Educational Park Branch Library
Near Overfelt Gardens, you’ll find the Educational Park Branch Library. Pick up a book to enjoy reading in the beautiful park, check out the on-site public art installations or attend an upcoming event, like art club, summer crafts, STEM club or story time. Coyote Creek Trail
If you like to explore, the scenic Coyote Creek Trail is ideal. The family-friendly path winds through San José, offering over 20 miles of mostly paved, multi-use trail perfect for walking, biking or jogging. Hugging the creek, the trail takes you past parks, picnic areas and natural habitats teeming with wildlife, making it perfect for birders. The route is considered moderately challenging, but the point-to-point trail is flat and can be customized to fit your needs. Whether you’re looking for a leisurely stroll, a new running path or a weekend bike ride, Coyote Creek Trail is a great place to enjoy the great outdoors. You can hop on the trail 0.7 miles from Berryessa/North San José.

The San José Flea Market
The beloved San José Flea Market has entertained families for 65 years. First opened in 1960 with just 20 vendors, this open-air market now spans over 120 acres and welcomes more than 4 million visitors annually. It’s open year-round on Wednesday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday from dawn to dusk, offering affordable fun, food, shopping and entertainment for all ages.
With hundreds of vendors spread throughout colorful corridors selling antiques, handmade jewelry, books, tools, furniture, clothing, electronics — even cars and car parts — the Flea Market is a shopper’s paradise. It’s a fantastic spot to discover one-of-a-kind items and support small, local businesses.
When you’re hungry, check out the quarter-mile-long produce row and choose between 60 food carts and over 30 snack bars serving everything from tacos to classic fair foods — think corn dogs and cotton candy.
Plus, there’s more to do than shop and eat at the San José Flea Market. Families will love the Fun Zone, which is home to an antique Allan Herschell carousel from 1950, pony rides, bounce houses and a mini Ferris wheel. The arcade features more than 90 games, including favorites such as Pac-Man, Frogger, Skee-Ball and air hockey tables. The playgrounds at Main Street (between 4th and 5th) offer shade on hot summer days. Everyone can enjoy live music from noon to 4:30 p.m., and seasonal events provide a full day of entertainment for all ages.

Garden at the Flea
This fun space within the San José Flea Market features green areas, a sustainable California garden, a beer cantina, a food truck park, a vintage clothing market, and a live entertainment stage. Admission is free, and hours are 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturdays and Sundays, as well as on select seasonal Friday Nights, as part of the Berryessa Nights Market.

Berryessa Night Market
From April to October, the San José Flea Market transforms into the Berryessa Night Market on Friday evenings — a free event featuring live music, themed entertainment, vintage sellers, craft beer and diverse flavors from food trucks. Running from 5 to 9 p.m., this seasonal event within Garden at the Flea is the perfect way to kick off the weekend and experience the diverse cultures that make San José special. All ages are welcome.
