Port Chicago Weekend
Through July 21 | Pittsburg Center

Festivities to commemorate the 80th anniversary of the WWII and civil rights history of Port Chicago take place this weekend in Pittsburg. Highlights include a formal evening gala with the Marcus Shelby Orchestra and a theatrical performance of “Port Chicago 50," both located 1.2 miles from Pittsburg Center at California Theatre. Take BART and catch the Tri Delta 381 bus to any of the featured events. 

Oakland Roots v. Sacramento Republic

Cheer on the Oakland Roots as they take on the Sacramento Republic in Hayward. Oakland Roots SC is a purpose-driven professional men's soccer team that harnesses the magic of Oakland and the power of sports as a social force for good. Witness them in action as they take that energy onto the pitch! Take BART to Hayward Station and hop on the AC Transit 60 bus to Pioneer Stadium to catch the match.

"The Lifespan of a Fact"

An intern at a top magazine is given the assignment of a lifetime – fact-checking a masterpiece by a legendary essayist. What the no-nonsense editor means as a simple task becomes a hilarious misadventure when it's revealed that most of the facts in the essay are embellished, adjusted, or just made up. Has the essayist undermined his own work or revealed a deeper truth by playing fast and loose to make his point? Facts battle with truth when the intern bucks his instructions and confronts the essayist in this Broadway hit by Jeremy Kareken, David Murrell, and Gordon Farrell. BroadwaySF presents this musical comedy based on the classic, beloved and funny film. Starring Tony-nominated Rob McClure as everyone's favorite Scottish nanny, "Mrs. Doubtfire" plays in San Francisco with rave reviews. The feel-good story about an out-of-work father who will do anything for his kids is as heartwarming as it is hilarious. Catch the show at the Orpheum Theatre just 3 feet from Civic Center/UN Plaza. After the show, head to The Madrigal (0.4 miles from Civic Center/UN Plaza) for an on-theme cocktail menu. Sip featured drinks inspired by the play, like "A Scotch Man," "Run By Fruiting" and "Oh, Helllooo."

“Collective Rage: A Play in Five Betties”

In this play, five people named Betty clash and connect in this queer fantasia of riotous self-discovery smeared with sex, rage and solidarity! Can a dinner party, a hand mirror, and a play within a play be the keys to turning solitude into understanding? Even happiness? This play by Shotgun Players at Ashby Stage is a wildly raw, comic exploration of the human heart, and other body parts, and it’s only 0.1 miles from Ashby.

Children’s Fairyland 510 Summer Fridays

The Bay Area’s favorite storybook-theme park in Oakland is introducing 510 Summer Fridays with a special discount for Oakland residents ($5 per child, $10 per adult). For over 75 years, Children’s Fairyland has been a place of imagination, exploration and dreams. Friday Nights at OMCA

Gather with friends and family on Friday night at the OMCA in the heart of Oakland. “Unique Derique” Free Kids’ Show in the Park

Head to Yerba Buena Children's Garden this weekend to check out a beloved Bay Area entertainer — Unique Derique. He started clowning at age 15 with Circus A La Mode before joining San Francisco’s Pickle Family Circus. He’s silly and imaginative and guaranteed to earn oodles of laughs. Bring the entire family to see Unique Derique 0.4 miles from Montgomery St.

San Francisco Vintage Market

The San Francisco Vintage Market is where everything old is new again. The event features over 30 vendors selling antique and vintage furniture, art, clothing, household items and more. Yerba Buena Gardens ChoreoFest

Yerba Buena Gardens Festival is the independent presenting organization dedicated to enhancing the vitality and quality of life in the parks and open spaces of Yerba Buena Gardens and other public sites of San Francisco through the curated presentation of free artistic, community and cultural programs. This weekend is Day Two of the ChoreoFest, and will showcase the extravagant creativity, diversity and vibrancy of the Bay Area dance scene. Take BART to Montgomery St to catch the creative performances 0.4 miles away.

Salsa in the Streets

This summer block party happens one Saturday a month and is fun for everyone from salsa pros to beginners. Dance in the street to DJ Juanlove's musica Cubana. Special guest, Cuban dance instructor Pablo Dinámico, will teach a short dance class to get you going. After you've worked up an appetite, dine on al pastor tacos from Tacolicious. Urban Youth Arts and Graffiti Festival

Precita Eyes Muralists take over Precita Park this weekend. The afternoon kicks off at 1 p.m. with an introduction to the festival, followed by music and dance performances. This event creates a safe environment for youth to explore spray-can art and mutual respect. Young people and seasoned street artists and muralists will share their artwork, fostering connections across generations. Join this creative event 0.8 miles from 24th St Mission.

Dirtybird: Back to Baysics

Dirtybird Records and Another Planet Entertainment are teaming up to bring a new show "Back to Baysics" to the Embarcadero Plaza. “The Movie Music of John Williams” at Davies Symphony Hall

Battle of the Decades

Is this the greatest happy hour of all time? Possibly. The 60s, 70s, 80s, 90s and more dance party includes drinks, DJs, dancing and plenty of nostalgia. The night kicks off at 5 p.m. in the 1960s with $1 drinks and jumps a decade every hour until 11 p.m. in the 2010s with $6 drinks. The night ends at 2 a.m. with current hits. Take BART to Montgomery St to dance to the decades 0.7 miles away.

Circus Bella at the Hayes Valley Carnival

Head to PROXY in Hayes Valley this weekend for the 113th anniversary of the Hayes Valley Carnival. Here you’ll find games and prizes and experience a modern twist on a one-ring circus. Circus Bella will impress the entire family with acrobats, jugglers, clowns, aerialists and more. The enchanting mayhem will be performed to the tunes of the six-piece Circus Bella All-Star Band. While the entertainment is free, there is a suggested donation of $20. Watch the show 0.6 miles from Civic Center/UN Plaza.

Cultural Feasts and Beasts at Restaurant Row

If you love cars from the 80s and 90s, this BARTable event is for you. Expect over 600 vehicles, like the DeLorean and the Testarossa, over seven acres of scenic waterfront. Plus, this year, Radwood NorCal is bringing a large tented area and plenty of umbrellas for shade. Check out cars, trucks, and bikes from 1980 - 1999 only 0.7 miles from Embarcadero at Pier 30-32.

Columbian Independence Day Party at The EndUp

Celebrate Columbian Independence Day with a day party at The Endup!
