Christmas week and New Year's schedule

Last Updated On Dec. 15, 2021

This year, Christmas Eve, Friday, December 24, 2021, will be a regular weekday schedule (5am-midnight).

Christmas Day, Saturday, December 25, 2021 will be a Saturday schedule with service running 6am-midnight.

There will be no other service adjustments Christmas week.

New Year’s Eve, Friday, December 31, 2021, will be a regular weekday schedule with an extended closing time to allow people to watch the fireworks show in San Francisco. See the full details about New Year's Eve service.

New Year’s Day, Saturday, January 1, 2022, will be a regular Saturday schedule with service running 6am until midnight.

Typically, BART runs Sunday/Holiday service (currently 8am-9pm) on holidays no matter what day of the week they land on, but as we work to regain ridership and continue to serve the region during the pandemic, we wanted to ensure riders had early morning options and a ride home after evening festivities.

BART staff has loaded the Christmas day and New Year's Day schedule into our Trip Planning tools. Staff is still loading the extra dispatch of trains for New Year's Eve into our trip planning tools.

Parking

Parking will be free on Friday, December 24, 2021 at all stations except for Milpitas and Berryessa/North San Jose operated by the Valley Transportation Authority.

Parking is always free after 3pm and on weekends except for Milpitas and Berryessa/North San Jose.

All other parking rules will be enforced.

For those travelling during the holidays and taking BART to the airport, you can purchase multi-day parking in advance through the BART official app. Download from the Apple App Store or Google Play Store and pay within the app using a credit card, debit card, Venmo, or PayPal.

Another option to get to SFO via BART is to drive to Millbrae Station and use the BART app to purchase multi-day reserve parking (formerly called airport/long term parking). Then take a quick ride from Millbrae to SFO airport. The official BART app is a convenient way to purchase reserved parking without needing to print out paper permits in advance. Reserve parking is $6.00 per day.

To pay for reserved parking on the app, select single/multi-day reserved parking, and add the license plate of the car you plan to drive and phone number to your profile. Make the payment. Park in the Reserved or “Permit” area. There is no need to print anything in advance or display anything inside your car.

Follow this guide to purchase long-term parking (now known as single/multi-day parking) on the official BART app.  You can reserve multiple days of parking in advance and leave your vehicle overnight.
