Whether you’re clearing out the garage or the tidying up the closet, some items seem to be out of place anywhere. Luckily, Out of the Closet is open to a wide range of items for donation.
Aside from clothes, shoes, jewelry and accessories, they accept furniture, books, records, and dishware. Although they accept donations rather than buying items, 96 cents of every dollar made in sales is given to the AIDS Healthcare Foundation who works internationally to treat AIDS patients and offer testing.
Out of the Closet also offers some free services related to preventative care listed on their website so you can be sure that those old tea mugs and tennis shoes are going to a worthy cause. Looking to shop after making a donation? Even though you can’t sell your old outfits, Out of the Closet has new looks that are in a more affordable range.
The North Berkeley location has spring dresses and short-sleeved button-ups to beat the heat in style all within $5 to $7 each with some additional tagged discounts. Tan and earth-toned open-toed heels and sandals are around $15 a pair.
