Holiday puppy and kitten adoptions
For more than 30 years, Macy’s Union Square and the San Francisco SPCA have been an important part of San Francisco’s holiday experience. Through the holiday season, thousands of shoppers and holiday revelers could witness a whole lot of cuteness inside Macy’s decorated windows. The animals couldn’t help themselves as they tumbled and pawed for your attention, your donations, and the prospect of a new home. This year, as we continue to navigate the pandemic and to keep everyone involved in the project safe, the event remains virtual. Adorable adoptable animals will still showcase their cuteness and vie for your attention but on live video cams adorning the Macy's windows and online, providing a virtual snippet of a possible new member of your family.
Since the tradition began, thousands of dogs and cats have been adopted. Donations collected help support the SF SPCA’s life-saving services. As in years past, the goal is to find worthy homes for the hundreds of adoptable animals available. While the goal is the same this year, it is online donations and applications that will take the place of staff and volunteers ever ready to connect outside the store windows. There is good news in that throughout the pandemic, the number of animal adoptions has skyrocketed but demand is there with animals still looking for their forever homes.
To tune in to view the cuteness that is awaiting you on the live video cams, visit the SPCA online. When you visit the Downtown San Francisco Macy's, you may also see a live animal ambassador walking through the aisles offering virtual hugs. Whether visiting online or at the store, check out the live cams everyday now through Jan. 2. They've been waiting for someone like you!
