With more and more businesses reopening for indoor operations, we're excited to start promoting in-person happenings again. We'll still be promoting #virtuallyBARTable events in our BARTable This Weekend feature, but you'll also start to see in-person events appearing. This weekend, a well-known fine arts museum reopens, an outdoor marketplace takes place, and if you feel more comfortable at home, choose from lots of virtual options. For even more #virtuallyBARTable content, see our full list of events that can be accessed anytime from anywhere.
de Young Museum Reopening | Powell St
We're excited to report that San Francisco museums have been given the go-ahead to restart indoor operations. The de Young Museum is one of the first museums scheduled to open on Friday, September 25. Museum capacity will be limited to 25%. Through December 2021, there is free general admission for essential workers, who will also receive a $15 discount on tickets to special exhibitions. There is free general admission on Saturdays for all Bay Area residents beginning this Saturday. Reserve your spot in advance online. Take BART to Powell St and transfer to SF Muni 5 or 44 to reach the museum.
Berkeley Old Time Music Convention | Virtual
The Berkeley Old Time Music Convention is presenting online concerts for this year's festival. All weekend long, there will be great workshops, concerts, a string band contest, hosted jams, and stuff for kids. Tune in for sets from Eddie Bond, David Greely, Evie Ladin Band, and Tony Thomas. See the full schedule.
“Out Front” Community Outdoor Drinks & Dining | Downtown Berkeley
UC Theatre is opening its doors again for outdoor drinks and dining with artisanal food window, Cali Alley and neighborhood food vendors. Head out to the theatre Friday for a night of socially-distanced fun from 6-10pm. Capacity will be limited to ensure the safety and comfort of guests and neighbors, so make sure to go early to snag a table. Ride BART to Downtown Berkeley and walk four minutes to 2036 University Ave.
Elizabeth Pepin Silva and Lewis Watts will present an illuminating slide show and talk about the new edition of "Harlem of the West: The San Francisco Fillmore Jazz Era." Through dozens of archival photographs and oral accounts from the neighborhood residents and musicians who experienced it at its height, the Harlem of the West SF Project celebrates this unique and rediscovered chapter in jazz history and the African-American experience on the West Coast. The presentation runs from 12-1pm and is free.
Oakland Athletics vs Seattle Mariners | Virtual
The Athletics clinched the AL West on Monday night, sending them to their first division championship since 2013. This weekend, the A's will play four games in three days against the Mariners, with a doubleheader on Saturday. The series kicks off tomorrow night at 6:40pm.
San Francisco Giants vs San Diego Padres | Virtual
The Giants continue their playoff push against the Padres this weekend. The series begins Friday afternoon at 4:10pm.
