With more and more businesses reopening for indoor operations, we're excited to start promoting in-person happenings again. We'll still be promoting #virtuallyBARTable events in our BARTable This Weekend feature, but you'll also start to see in-person events appearing. This weekend, a well-known fine arts museum reopens, an outdoor marketplace takes place, and if you feel more comfortable at home, choose from lots of virtual options. de Young Museum Reopening | Powell St

We're excited to report that San Francisco museums have been given the go-ahead to restart indoor operations. The de Young Museum is one of the first museums scheduled to open on Friday, September 25. Museum capacity will be limited to 25%. Through December 2021, there is free general admission for essential workers, who will also receive a $15 discount on tickets to special exhibitions. There is free general admission on Saturdays for all Bay Area residents beginning this Saturday. Reserve your spot in advance online. Take BART to Powell St and transfer to SF Muni 5 or 44 to reach the museum.

Berkeley Old Time Music Convention | Virtual

The Berkeley Old Time Music Convention is presenting online concerts for this year's festival. All weekend long, there will be great workshops, concerts, a string band contest, hosted jams, and stuff for kids. Tune in for sets from Eddie Bond, David Greely, Evie Ladin Band, and Tony Thomas. “Out Front” Community Outdoor Drinks & Dining | Downtown Berkeley

UC Theatre is opening its doors again for outdoor drinks and dining with artisanal food window, Cali Alley and neighborhood food vendors. Head out to the theatre Friday for a night of socially-distanced fun from 6-10pm. Capacity will be limited to ensure the safety and comfort of guests and neighbors, so make sure to go early to snag a table. Ride BART to Downtown Berkeley and walk four minutes to 2036 University Ave.

Online Presentation: "Harlem of the West - The San Francisco Fillmore Jazz Era" | Virtual

Elizabeth Pepin Silva and Lewis Watts will present an illuminating slide show and talk about the new edition of "Harlem of the West: The San Francisco Fillmore Jazz Era." Through dozens of archival photographs and oral accounts from the neighborhood residents and musicians who experienced it at its height, the Harlem of the West SF Project celebrates this unique and rediscovered chapter in jazz history and the African-American experience on the West Coast. The presentation runs from 12-1pm and is free.

Oakland Athletics vs Seattle Mariners | Virtual

The Athletics clinched the AL West on Monday night, sending them to their first division championship since 2013. This weekend, the A's will play four games in three days against the Mariners, with a doubleheader on Saturday. The series kicks off tomorrow night at 6:40pm. 

San Francisco Giants vs San Diego Padres | Virtual

The Giants continue their playoff push against the Padres this weekend. The series begins Friday afternoon at 4:10pm.

Children’s Fairyland presents "Celebrity Storytime" | Virtual

Celebrate the 70th anniversary of Children's Fairyland with hometown heroes Daveed Diggs and Rafael Casal. They'll host “Children’s Fairyland presents Celebrity Storytime,” a magical evening of homegrown fairytales, puppets, and more! The free virtual event runs from 6:30pm-7:45pm.

Open-Air Marketplace of Local Makers at Walnut Creek | Walnut Creek

Experience an outdoor marketplace of the best local makers and great vibes in Walnut Creek! Soak up the sun in the beautiful Broadway Plaza and shop small from your local community. From 11am-5pm on Saturday, there will be offerings from the best local makers of jewelry, wine barrel products, organic body products, home goods, apparel, glass, and floral arrangements. Before heading out, don't forget your mask and make sure to practice social distancing while at the marketplace. Take BART to Walnut Creek and walk 20 minutes to the plaza.

RockSteadyFest | Virtual

RockSteadyFest believes recovery, healthy living, and having fun are the best ways to handle stress during these hard times. Check out local musicians Kevin Griffin, Fordham Murdy AKA the Reverend Freakchild, and Cole and Mikki Tate. The free virtual event begins at 6pm.

Virtual Sharktoberfest | Virtual

This annual celebration of sharks is going virtual this year. Join the Greater Farallones National Marine Sanctuary for an online celebration of sharks to raise awareness of the importance of elasmobranchs in our marine ecosystem, coinciding with the arrival of white sharks to the San Francisco area. Tune in for fun and educational activities for adults and kids – shark art, shark science, shark films, shark conservation, and lots of great ukulele tunes! The free virtual event streams from 10am-1:30pm.

San Francisco 49ers vs New York Giants | Virtual

The Niners will stay in New York for a second game at MetLife Stadium, where they will try to limit the number of injuries on the tough turf. The game starts at 10:00am and there are numerous ways to watch.

Día de la Ingeniería/Latinx Engineering Day | Virtual

The SF Bay Area Chapter of the Society of Hispanic Professional Engineers and the Exploratorium present Meet the Engineers—a conversation with professionals working in a variety of engineering disciplines. This FREE, bilingual (Spanish/English) program is intended for audiences of all ages, from creative children who love to make things to teens and young adults interested in engineering careers to professionals curious about their colleagues’ projects. This is a free online event that begins at 2pm.

Virtual Folsom Street Fair | Virtual

The world’s largest leather and fetish event has gone virtual. Join fetish enthusiasts from around the world for the features of the Folsom Street Fair that you know and love, brought directly into your home. There will be DJs, live music, shopping, and education with exhibitors, BDSM demos, and so much more. The livestream begins at 10:45am.
