The Bay Area is buzzing with things to do this weekend. Whether you're in the mood for large events or small gatherings, we've got you covered. “A Day of Silents” at the San Francisco Silent Film Festival

Head to the SFJAZZ Center this weekend for the annual event, “A Day of Silents.” The schedule is as follows:

  • Noon: “The Navigator” with live music by Mont Alto Motion Picture Orchestra
  • 2 p.m.: “A Story of Floating Weeds” with live music by Guenter Buchwald and Mas Koga
  • 4:30 p.m.: “Children of Divorce” with live music by Mont Alto Motion Picture Orchestra 
  • 7 p.m.: “Chicago” with live music by Guenter Buchwald, SF Conservatory of Music Orchestra and Mas Koga

Watch one (or all four) of the silent-era films with live music at SFJAZZ Center just 0.5 miles from Civic Center/UN Plaza

California Symphony's "Mozart Serenity”

Lunar New Year x Black History Month

Celebrate Asian and African-American solidarity this weekend at Lunar New Year x Black History Month.  Shop at the marketplace highlighting local Black and Asian vendors. Let the kiddos explore the children’s zone. Engage in activities like lion dancing, drumming and storytelling. There is so much to do! Head to 12th St/Oakland City Center for a dynamic fusion of traditions just 0.2 miles from BART.
 

“The Edwardian Ball” Vendor Bazaar & Open Market

Noon–5 p.m. | 1300 Van Ness Ave.

 

This daytime event at the Regency Ballroom is the perfect place to snag all your crafting and fashion needs from the finest artisans and merchants around. While the Edwardian Ball is a two-night ticketed event full of music, theater and circus acts (you can get tickets here), the Vendor Bazaar is a free, quieter experience that’s sure to add a little style to your weekend. Get shopping 0.9 miles from Civic Center/UN Plaza.
 

Lunar New Year Celebration

Ring in the new year with the Youth Art Exchange. All ages will enjoy festive arts and crafts, live performances and fun community activities to celebrate the traditions of the Lunar New Year. Celebrate the Year of the Snake in San Francisco just steps from 16th St Mission at Le Fenix.

 

CHSA’s Year of the Snake Celebration

Hosted by the Chinese Historical Society, the Year of the Snake celebration is a fantastic way to learn about traditions. Make snake-themed arts and crafts, go on a scavenger hunt and watch lion dance performances by Wong Gar Hung Keun. Plus, there’s free snacks. The celebration is 0.7 miles from Montgomery St

 

Monster Pho’s Lunar New Year Celebration

Celebrate New Year at Monster Pho for tasty eats and live entertainment. Enjoy a steaming bowl of pho, enjoy a lion dance performance, and let the kiddos get their faces painted—ring in the Year of the Snake 0.5 miles from MacArthur.

Celebrating Lunar New Year w/ Maxine Hong Kingston

Bay Area author Maxine Hong Kingston (and special guests) will kick off the Year of the Snake as panelists. They’ll share traditional and personal New Year celebration rituals and discuss myths about the 2025 Chinese zodiac symbol the snake. They’ll also offer predictions for the new year. Golden State Warriors v. Phoenix Suns

The Golden State Warriors face the Phoenix Suns at the Chase Center this weekend. Their last meeting in December resulted in a 109-105 victory. Here’s hoping the Warriors get another win! San Francisco Sketchfest
