KMEL Summer Jam

KMEL Summer Jam returns to the Oakland Arena this weekend. Enjoy the ambassador of the Bay, E-40, along with performances by Jeezy, JT, 4BATZ, 310Babii, LaRussell, BossMan Dlow and DaBoyDame & Friends. Get tickets at Ticketmaster and take BART to the Coliseum to catch the show.
Roots v. Loudoun United FC

Cheer on the Oakland Roots as they take on Loudoun United FC in Hayward this weekend. Oakland Roots SC is a purpose-driven professional men's soccer team that harnesses the magic of Oakland and the power of sports as a social force for good. Witness them in action on the pitch! Take BART to Hayward Station and hop on the AC Transit 60 bus to Pioneer Stadium to catch the match.
Pistahan Parade and Festival
Aug. 10-11 | Montgomery St

Catch the annual Pistahan event, a premiere showcase of Filipino and Filipino-American arts and culture, this weekend. The parade begins at 11 a.m. on Saturday in front of San Francisco City Hall and ends at Yerba Buena Gardens where the festival begins. Pavilions and stages will present both traditional and contemporary music, dance, art, crafts, cuisine and artifacts. Expect plenty of entertainment, Filipino food and a trade expo offering unique products from the Philippines. Take BART to Civic Center/UN Plaza for the parade with 0.2 miles to the starting point and Montgomery St for the festival with 0.4 miles to Mission St between 3rd and 4th Streets.
“Collective Rage: A Play in Five Betties”

This play is about five women, all named Betty. The five Betties collide, and as their view of each other shifts and fractures, so too does the way in which they see themselves. This narrative invites the audience to embrace a more courageous and dynamic imagination about our own identities and capabilities. The production by Shotgun Players at Ashby Stage is a wildly raw, comic exploration of the human heart and more, and it’s only 0.1 miles from Ashby.
Children’s Fairyland 510 Summer Fridays

The Bay Area’s favorite storybook-theme park in Oakland is running 510 Summer Fridays with a special discount for Oakland residents ($5 per child, $10 per adult). Head to the Lafayette Library on Fridays this August for food trucks, dancing and fun for the entire family. This weekend, Diana Gameros, a singer, songwriter, and social justice activist, will be there. Accompanied by Patrick Wolf (clarinet, sax, tenor), Diana’s music often tells stories of family, migration and home. Catch the show 0.6 miles from Lafayette Station.
Bollywood Dance at Salesforce

Learn fun, choreographed moves in the Main Plaza at Salesforce Park this Friday. Rang De Bollywood will teach an all-level Bollywood dance to eclectic music from India. Start the weekend off right with joyful movement while participating in this colorful Indian dance. Salesforce Park hosts the event 0.3 miles from Embarcadero.
Chinatown Night Market

The Chinatown Night Market returns every second Friday to the beautiful lanterned-lined Grant Avenue in San Francisco’s Chinatown this Friday. Three blocks of the historic neighborhood will shine for an Asian Style Night Market that really shouldn’t be missed. Enjoy food, local merchants, entertainment and a lively atmosphere in the vibrant heart of Chinatown. Take BART to Montgomery St to join the celebration 0.5 miles away at Grant Avenue and Sacramento Street.
MoAD: Free Museum Day

This contemporary art museum celebrates Black culture and showcases pieces representing the cultural heritage of Africans and African descendants around the globe. It's one of the few museums in the world focusing on the African Diaspora. Check out the African Book Club, African Diaspora Film Club, artist talks and more. Take BART to Montgomery St to immerse yourself in culture and art 0.2 miles away at 685 Mission St.
Hoop it Up: 3x3 Basketball Tournament at Thrive City

Love basketball? While participating in this popular 3x3 tournament for ages 8 to 18+ requires an entrance fee, spectators can join in on the fun for free. Register here for free tickets and enjoy the competition. Don’t forget to visit Thrive City retailers and grab a bite to eat to fuel your day. Take BART to Powell St and walk or hop on the Muni T to the Chase Center.
Berkeley Second Sundays

Outside Lands Musical Festival

This three-day festival in Golden Gate Park celebrates music, food, wine, beer, art and Bay Area culture. Impressive headliners include The Killers, Sabrina Carpenter, Sturgill Simpson, Post Malone and many more. Plus, the Bay Area’s most exciting restaurants will be on-site to feed hungry festival-goers. Summer Circus Celebration 2024

Experience three days of circus excellence this summer at the Kinetic Art Center. With two days of more than 30 workshops and two evenings of more than 20 unique acts, this community-building event and annual circus festival offers so much see and do. One or two-day workshop passes grant unlimited access to workshop offerings. Tickets for performances are on a pay-what-you-can basis. Take BART to 12th St/Oakland City Center and walk 0.7 miles to 785 7th St.
Bay Area International Deaf Dance Festival 2024

This weekend, the Urban Jazz Dance Company presents the Bay Area International Deaf Festival at Dance Mission Theater. The fun event consists of performances and workshops that highlight the important contributions that Deaf and Hard of Hearing artists make to our community. Black Arts Movement Business District Walking Tour
