It’s rare to find a transit station smack in the middle of a sleepy bedroom community, but anyone familiar with the East Bay town of Orinda knows that BART’s location is a convenient landmark for anyone riding the rails. With views of the rolling hills and peeks of cities beyond, Orinda begs you to visit and will leave you wanting to return.
Once you arrive at Orinda station, it's a lovely 3-minute walk over the adjacent bridge that will lead you right into Orinda Theater Square, one of Orinda's main districts. There you will find a multi-story complex filled with fabulous stops, but for your 36 minutes, we're sending you to a few of our faves.

Of course, with it being a Theater District, you'll want to check-out Orinda Theater. The Art Deco-Modern movie house opened during the tail end of Hollywood’s Golden Age in 1941 and serves as the centerpiece for the heart of the district. Renovated during the pandemic back to its original glory, take a quick peek inside to grab a sense of nostalgic history.

For a sweet and decadent cupcake or cookie, a celebratory full-sized cake or "The Brunch Box" full of goodies, make a stop at Republic of Cake. Each week, they offer a new treat-filled menu and while they currently have limited hours, it's likely they'll be back on a full schedule soon. Check their website and place your order ahead for pickup when you arrive - you don't want to miss out on this local gem!

For a little shopping fix, pop into Sanvitalia Home and Garden. It is stocked with home decor, live arrangements and just downright beautiful ideas with lovely scents that will sweep you away. The store moved from the Oakland Hills several years ago and is still a destination spot for their clientele in Orinda. Pop in for a little gift for a family member or friend - or perhaps, a little something special, just for you!
Let's talk for a minute.
