Win tickets to Opening Night at California Symphony's "Intersections"
Enter to win two premium tickets to "Intersections" as performed by the California Symphony at Lesher Center for the Arts in Walnut Creek on Saturday, Sept. 10 at 7:30pm. Includes 30-minute pre-concert talk, starting an hour before the show. Three winners will take the prize!
Catchy folk themes, big brassy anthems, and a gorgeous new cello concerto are featured in the 2022/23 season opener "Intersections." Tchaikovsky’s exuberant “Symphony No. 2” bursts with Ukrainian folk song motifs in a program celebrating works rooted in folk music. Internationally acclaimed cellist Inbal Segev performs GRAMMY-nominated composer Anna Clyne’s deeply melodic “Dance.” The piece was written for Inbal and premiered with her at center stage at the Cabrillo Festival in Santa Cruz three years ago. Kodaly’s “Dances of Galánta” draws on the celebrated music education pioneer’s memories of music he heard as a child. Skoryk’s “Melody for Symphony Orchestra,” which has become so popular in the composer’s native Ukraine that it is now considered Ukraine’s second national anthem, rounds out a program that explores heartfelt music at the intersection of tradition, memory, and identity.
