We found groundhogs in the Bay Area

We found groundhogs in the Bay Area
A yellow-bellied marmot in Yosemite National Park. Photo courtesy of Wikipedia. Introduction The title of this article is a bit of a stretch. Groundhogs of the Punxsutawney Phil variety are not found in California, as they generally live east of the Mississippi River. However, groundhogs are just large ground squirrels, and ground squirrels are found in California. The biggest ground squirrels in California are yellow-bellied marmots living in the Sierra Nevada Mountains.

Concord Comfort Food Week runs through the end of the month. Photo courtesy of Visit Concord. This weekend, there are GRAMMY® Award-winning artists a-plenty for your viewing pleasure along with good laugh-inducing offerings. The weather forecast calls for it to cool down, because believe it or not it is still winter, so the warm indoors may be the best place to be. Enjoy these virtual offerings and if you do hit the ongoing San Jose Flea Market or go out to grab comfort food, bundle up and mask up. We wish you a good weekend in whatever you do!

Is there something BARTable that we must know about? Start here! We’ve been around since 2015, and although we’d like to think we know every last nook and cranny of the Bay Area, we know that every day a new business is opening its doors, a restaurant is popping up or a festival is kicking off its inaugural year. And we want to hear about them!

For more than 30 years, Macy’s Union Square and the San Francisco SPCA have been an important part of San Francisco’s holiday experience. Through the holiday season, thousands of shoppers and holiday revelers could witness a whole lot of cuteness inside Macy’s decorated windows. The animals couldn’t help themselves as they tumbled and pawed for your attention, your donations, and the prospect of a new home.

Maceo Parker plays his annual show at SFJAZZ... virtually. Photo courtesy of SFJAZZ. The wind-down from the holidays is here and it's time to sit back and relax a bit on this first weekend of 2021. While the events calendar may be a little lighter than usual, it still offers up some fun ideas for things to do and enjoy while bringing the energy down a notch. That said, let the low-key weekend commence and Happy New Year!
