Walnut Creek Library

Walnut Creek Library
The Walnut Creek Library is a 14-minute walk from the Walnut Creek BART Station. Take North California Boulevard to Lacassie Avenue, then to North Main Street. After that, a left on Civic Drive and a right on North Broadway will take you the rest of the way. Since this walk is on the long side, you might also choose to bike there from Walnut Creek BART, and lucky for you, this library is fully equipped with bike racks and a bike repair station to fix any common riding issue from a flat tire to adjusting derailleurs.

Tarea Hall Pittman South Branch Library

Tarea Hall Pittman South Branch Library
Tarea Hall Pittman South Branch Library is a 6-minute walk from BART, and is located on the corner of MLK Jr. Way and Russell Street. There is no parking lot at this branch; even more of a reason to ride BART to your summer reading destination. The library recently installed solar panels to minimize its energy intake and reduced their use by 2,000 kWh from June to July of 2017. With drought-tolerant landscaping, low-flow faucets and toilets and increased natural ventilation, this library will keep you for a comfy read, sustainably.

Berkeley Public Library

Berkeley Public Library
Berkeley Public Library is only a 4-minute walk from the Downtown Berkeley BART Station. Marvel at this library’s exterior architecture and try not to get lost in its five-floor magnitude. This Central Berkeley branch was founded in 1882 with only $100 to start building and 54 donated books. Now, it's a large community center for learning. The library offers beginner computer classes and middle school coding classes as well family and toddler storytimes.
