This historic membership based library is home to a cultural event center, chess club, and library all in the heart of the Financial District in San Francisco. The library houses all subjects including "literature, arts, history, philosophy, business, finance, and hard-to-find periodicals." In addition to their library collections, the Mechanics' Institute also "houses the oldest continuously operating chess club in the United States."

The El Cerrito Public Library is a small community library that has an assortment of over 36,000 items including books, DVDs, CDs, audio books, magazines and more. The César E. Chávez Branch Library was one of the first public libraries to have Spanish materials and be exclusively dedicated to serve the Spanish-speaking community in the United States. It has more than 56,000 books, CDs, newspaper, and other reading material for all ages.
Located in the largest city in Contra Costa County, the Concord Library strives to keep the city's vision of "Families First" by offering a large collection of children's and teen content.
