Celebrate National Pizza Day the BARTable way

Pizza will never go out of style because its portable and delicious. For National Pizza Day (Feb 9) we've rounded up our favorite pizza restaurants that are steps away from BART. Now, we’re not suggesting you replace your favorite spot but consider expanding your pizza horizons. Keep reading for awesome cheese pulls and fresh pie pics.

San Francisco

Outta Sight Pizza | Civic Center/UN Plaza

Outta Sight started as a pop-up in 2021 but the team’s creations were so popular, they moved into their own space. The new menu features elevated toppings like mortadella and garlic butter. You can try all nine variations since this particular shop serves slices only. If you need a whole pie or want to call ahead to order, check out their website. To get here you'll take BART to Civic Center/UN Plaza and walk 10 minutes to 422 Larkin.

Cellarmaker House of Pizza | 24th St Mission

Detroit-style pizza paired with local craft beer? yes, please! Cellarmaker’s pizzas are traditional but also experimental with ingredients like aged gouda and oyster mushrooms. The menu is rounded out with salads and vegetable sides sourced from local organic farms. They run a Tuesday special where a slice of pie and a pint will only set you back $10 check out the website to learn more. Take BART to 24th St Mission and walk 10 minutes to 3193 Mission St.

Zante Pizza & Indian Cuisine | 24th St Mission

Zante’s is the place to go when you can’t decide between pizza and Indian food. Some of their specialty pizzas include chicken masala, paneer masala, and vegetarian daal makhne. They also have an extensive Indian menu and a nice dining room to enjoy your pizza or your dish. To view the full menu, visit Zante's website. Take BART to 24th St Mission and walk 15 minutes to 3489 Mission St.

Montesacro | Powell St

Roman pizza, or "pinsa", borders on flatbread territory with its chewy and airy crust. The oblong-shaped pie is the centerpiece at SOMA’s Montesacro. It’s a small, bustling space that brought Roman pizza to the city. With more than a dozen options, all using authentic Italian products like guanciale, prosciutto, buffalo mozzarella and soppressata they've been a hit since opening. East Bay

Square Pie Guys | 12th St/Oakland City Center

The folks behind Square Pie Guys know pizza! Their Old Oakland spot is a beauty, perfect to showcase their Detroit-style squares with edges that are cheesy and crusty. Thick, decadently creative slices are always on the menu along with buffalo wings and cheese bread. Explore the delicious menu here. Take BART to 12th St/Oakland City Center and walk five minutes to 499 Ninth St.

Rose Pizzeria | Downtown Berkeley

The folks behind Rose Pizzeria ran a successful Italian spot in Chicago before heading west. They have already garnered great reviews from diners looking for a charming spot to dine al fresco (they have a rose garden) and nosh on Neapolitan pizza and sip an apertivo in the afternoon. Order take-out or make a reservation for dine in on the website. Take BART to Downtown Berkeley and walk six minutes to 1960 University Ave.

Zachary's Chicago Pizza | Pleasant Hill and Rockridge

Zachary's Chicago Pizza has been a bay area favorite for 30 years with five locations across three counties. Their specialty is the Chicago style deep dish, not to be confused with “Sicilian” style, “Stuffed Crust” or other “deep dish” pizzas, Zachary’s Stuffed Chicago Style pizza is something else altogether. Consider trying the Zachary's special, their spin on the classic combo, or the super veggies which are fan favorites. Take BART to Plesant Hill and hop on the number nine bus 14 minutes to 140 Crescent Drive or visit their Oakland location just a five-minute walk from Rockridge station.
