Flying out of Oakland International Airport (OAK)? You’re in luck! With recent additions focusing on local small businesses, including 16 new retail storefronts and tasty eateries, OAK is a hot spot to shop, snack and soak up East Bay culture. Plus, the Oakland International Airport is easily accessible by BART. Hop off at Coliseum station and go upstairs to transfer to an OAK train at Platform 3. The quick ride drops you right at the airport entrance in minutes. Check out a few of our new favorite places inside Oakland International Airport, and enjoy your flight!

Little Main St.

Inspired by Oakland’s historic Temescal neighborhood, Little Main St. is worth visiting. It opened in March 2025, and visiting the shop feels like strolling through a local market. It features goods from East Bay makers and has plenty of magazines, electronics, snacks and convenience items to help you have a comfortable flight. As a bonus, the exterior wall boasts a vibrant mural designed by Oaklandish. Find Little Main St. @ OAK in Terminal 1 near Gate 5.

Shop the Town

Looking for inspiration to shop local? Shop the Town is the place to peruse. The stylish boutique offers everything from culinary items to gifts and souvenirs from local designers, artisans and chefs whose stories are highlighted by Paradies Lagardère’s “Meet the Artisan” program. You'll find it here whether you’re looking for gourmet snacks, local wines, a last-minute birthday gift, jewelry, or clothing, including sports apparel. You can also pick up convenience items and travel accessories. Local businesses include Oakland’s Own, Doodles Ink, Old Salt Merchants, Bicycle Coffee Co. and Wooden Table Baking Co. Visitors will also love the mural created by local artist Paulette Nichols. Shop the Town is located in Terminal 2 at Gate 24.

East Bay Trails

From cozy hoodies to local snacks, East Bay Trails is packed with merchandise from small Bay Area businesses, like Oakland Honey, tinyB Chocolate, and Berkeley-based Cult Crackers. The store’s name pays homage to the region’s beautiful nature trails and natural beauty, so shoppers can feel the local vibe while shopping at the airport. Hudson’s Duty Free

Take advantage of Hudson’s Duty Free inside the Oakland International Airport when traveling internationally. Here, you can avoid import taxes on treats like perfume, spirits and confections. It’s the perfect spot for international travelers to pick up a luxury treat. Find Hudson’s Duty Free in Terminal 1 near Gate 1.

Named after the beautiful and large tidal lagoon in the center of Oakland, Lake Merritt Essentials is the perfect place to shop for travel necessities with an East Bay twist. Grab a hoodie to stay warm and cozy on a red-eye flight. Pick up locally sourced snacks and wellness items. Purchase gifts made by local artisans. Oakland Supply Co.

Oakland Supply Co. blends American-made goods with a distinctly local touch. From screen-printed tees to jewelry, custom tote bags and candles representing local scents, this spot is perfect for travelers looking to represent California, especially the Town, wherever they land. Find Oakland Supply Co. in Terminal 2 at Gate 22.

Oaklandish Coffee Collective

Grab a cup of coffee from Oaklandish Coffee Collective as soon as you get to Oakland International Airport. You won’t be disappointed. The local roasters make some of the East Bay’s best brews and offer a rotating selection of merchandise from local retailers. They also serve breakfast, bagels and light bites. The space is so appealing — thanks to the same honeycomb display from Oaklandish’s downtown store, parklet seating and a street mural — you won’t believe you’re having coffee inside the airport. Find Oaklandish Coffee Collective in Terminal 1 just past the security checkpoint.

Cancun Sabor Mexicano Restaurant

The Berkeley-based Cancun Sabor Mexicano made its airport debut in April, and it’s already a standout. Known for its fresh ingredients and hearty burritos, this independent Bay Area favorite is a welcome alternative to big chains. Head here for a delicious meal to fuel up before your flight. Find Cancun in Terminal 1 near Gate 9.

A16 Pizzeria

A16, initially founded in San Francisco in 2004, is a Bay Area favorite and award-winning restaurant. Winner of a 2022 Michelin Bib Gourmand designation and multiple James Beard Awards, the Italian cafe was a welcome addition to OAK last year. It serves local flavors in all its food, from breakfast sandwiches and coffee to paninis and pizzas crafted in its stone pizza oven.

Escape Lounge

Airports can be hectic, and sometimes, you need a moment of calm before your flight. The Escape Lounge offers a relaxing space to unwind. From $45 per person, travelers get freshly prepared food and drinks, in addition to comfortable seats and free Wi-Fi. Their extensive menu and convenient business amenities make it a fantastic location to get some work done before a flight. The Escape Lounge is one of the most tranquil spots in the airport and ideal for recharging before takeoff. Find the Escape Lounge in Terminal 1 near Gate 9.
