Oakland Ballers v. Grand Junction Jackalopes
May 30–June 1 | West Oakland

The Ballers will face the Jackalopes multiple times this weekend, but on Sunday, fans can cheer on the Ballers AND celebrate the beloved mascot Scrappy’s birthday. Bonus: the first 500 fans will get a Scrappy Bobblehead. Take BART to West Oakland. You can either walk 0.9 miles or jump on the Ballers shuttle or AC Transit 29 bus to Raimondi Park.
Bay Area Book Festival

The 2025 Bay Area Book Festival returns with a two-day literary celebration showcasing over 250 authors across 11 stages. Saturday highlights include Family Day at the Berkeley Public Library, eight free Writers’ Workshops and the new Democracy Dialogues series on civic storytelling. Sunday’s Bookworm Block Party transforms Allston Way with outdoor stages, 120+ exhibitors and a Small Press Alley. Enjoy the literary event just steps from the Downtown Berkeley station.
Civic Symphony: Mahler 1 at the Herbst Theatre

Step into the world of Mahler this weekend at the Herbst Theatre. Gustav Mahler’s Symphony No. 1, also known as the “Titan” symphony, is packed with emotion, romance, comedy and drama. Catch it this Sunday in San Francisco, 0.4 miles from Civic Center/UN Plaza.
"Triumph" at Zellerbach Hall

Berkeley Symphony’s season finale, “Triumph,” features the Bay Area premiere of Gity Razaz’s “Methuselah (In Chains of Time)” as well as Astor Piazzolla’s “Aconcagua” and Shostakovich’s Symphony No. 5. Enjoy the diverse performances 0.6 miles from Downtown Berkeley.
Co-Founders at the Strand Theater

“Co-Founders” is a world-premiere hip-hop musical running at the American Conservatory Theater Strand Theater in San Francisco. “Parade” at the Orpheum Theatre

“Parade” is a Tony Award–winning musical based on a haunting true story. “Yellow Face” at Shotgun Players

Shotgun Players presents “Yellow Face,” a funny, semi-autobiographical play that follows a playwright as he casts a white actor for an Asian role. AAPI Heritage Celebration at Hotel Biron

To join the fun, exit BART at Fremont Station and find tasty treats and more at the Downtown Event Center Plaza and Capitol Ave. from Liberty St. to State St., 0.8 miles from BART.
Golden State Valkyries v. Minnesota Lynx at Chase Center

The Bay Area’s very own WNBA team, the Golden State Valkyries, play at home this weekend against the Minnesota Lynx. Minnesota is at the top of the league with five wins so far, but the Valkyries will be fighting to break their winning streak. Take BART to Powell St or 16th St Mission and walk or hop on Muni to the Chase Center to cheer on the home team.
