It's the first weekend of spring, and there’s no better way to celebrate than by exploring the Bay Area’s many happenings. From Tulip Day in Union Square to night markets, soccer games, symphonies and the start of Oakland Restaurant Week there is so much to do. Oakland Restaurant Week

Oakland is one of the country’s most exciting culinary scenes, and this weekend you can savor world-class flavors during Oakland Restaurant Week. With over 100 participating eateries offering exclusive menus and fantastic discounts, it’s easy to try one (or many!) of Oakland’s diverse and BARTable restaurants reflecting its rich culture and vibrant community.

Flower Bulb Day at Union Square
March 22 | Powell St
1–4:30 p.m. | 333 Post St.

Over 80,000 tulips will decorate Union Square this weekend. Head downtown to see the colorful display and pick your own bunch to take home. The maximum is six tulips per person. Celebrate spring 0.3 miles from Powell St.

Oakland Roots v. San Antonio FC
March 22 | Coliseum
7 p.m. | 7000 Coliseum Way

It’s the home opener for our Oakland Roots! Catch the inaugural game at the Oakland Coliseum and cheer the team on as they battle San Antonio FC. Catch the action and an exciting post-game fireworks display, 0.2 miles from Coliseum.

SF Symphony at Davies Symphony Hall

Saad Haddad is California Symphony’s Young American Composer-in-Residence. This weekend, he’ll present “Pathétique,” Tchaikovsky’s sixth and final symphony, and one of his most popular. Arrive 30 minutes early for the pre-concert talk and enjoy the show 0.3 miles from Civic Center/UN Plaza.

“Frankenstein” at War Memorial Opera House

"Frankenstein” is based on the classic tale of life, death, love and identity. Composer Lowell Liebermann and choreographer Liam Scarlett reawakened this story with drama, mystery and a haunting score. “Nobody Loves You” at the Toni Rembe Theater

Jeff is a philosophy grad student who tries to win his ex back by joining a reality dating show where contestants compete for love and fame. “Art” at Shotgun Players

The Castro Night Market is back, and will run monthly through October. This weekend, bring your favorite greenery and participate in the community plant swap, grab dinner from local vendors and enjoy live entertainment. Find the night market one mile from 16th St/Mission.

Sunday Fundays at Union Square

Families can head to Union Square every Sunday through April for Sunday Fundays. Led by Maker Studio Kidz, expect fun, S.T.E.A.M. activities ideal for ages 5-12. This weekend, little ones will make a “Karl the Fog” Hanging Mobile Craft. Enjoy learning just 0.4 miles from Powell St.

Golden State Valkyries x BAMP: Community Paint Day

Celebrate the Golden State Valkyries by contributing to a large-scale mural to honor their arrival in the Bay. Hosted by the Bay Area Mural Program (BAMP), this family-friendly event lets all fans of all ages make their mark supporting women’s basketball. Spring Fling: Queer Pop-Up Extravaganza!

“Cassian” at the Regency Ballroom

Rooftop Holi Music Festival
