Summer is in full swing, with plenty of fun local events accessible by public transportation. From a World Cup game day viewing in the Presidio to an outdoor film screening at Dolores Park, there are many new events in the Bay Area this weekend. Oakland Roots v. Miami FC
June 13 | Coliseum

Catch the Oakland Roots soccer club take on Miami FC at the Oakland-Alameda County Coliseum. This special Juneteenth-themed evening, in partnership with Hella Juneteenth, will include music, food and cultural activations to mark the occasion. Celebrate sports, culture and community while cheering on the Roots. The Coliseum is connected directly to the Coliseum via a dedicated elevated pedestrian bridge, with a distance of about 0.3 miles between the station and the venue.
San Francisco Gay Men’s Chorus: Dolly!

The San Francisco Gay Men’s Chorus celebrates Pride with a tribute to Dolly Parton. Whether you want to sing along or check out the Dolly look-alike contest, be sure to dress for the occasion and get ready to let your hair down. This event is sure to be a treat for fans of the legendary singer. Head to the Curran Theatre, just 0.2 miles from Powell St.
Fútbol Gameday LIVE in the Presidio

12 p.m.-5 p.m. | 105 Montgomery St.
Come out to the Presidio’s Main Parade Lawn on Saturday, June 13, 12 to 5 p.m., for an afternoon of fun for the whole family. Bring a picnic or grab food from Presidio Pop Up’s food vendors and enjoy a public screening of the FIFA World Cup 26™ matches, Qatar vs. Switzerland and Brazil vs. Morocco at the Main Parade Lawn. The games will be broadcast in Spanish. Take BART to Embarcadero Station to catch the PresidioGO Shuttle to get there.
Life in Space Festival

Would you survive living in space? Find out what it’s like to stay alive in the extreme conditions beyond Earth. The Exploratorium kicks off its summer Life in Space exhibition with the Life in Space festival, a weekend of activities about space exploration. Through science, art and hands-on programs, this festival is for space enthusiasts of all ages. The Exploratorium is located 0.7 miles from Embarcadero BART.
Set on a Hollywood film shoot where the chaotic soundstage mimics the real-world climate crisis their big-budget movie addresses, the director, Maria, tries to keep her set – and herself – together in this sharp-witted, fast-paced comedy performed by the Shotgun Players. Take BART to Ashby; the theater is 0.1 miles away.

Good Medicine All-Native Comedy Night

Catch the Good Medicine comedy night this Friday at the Yerba Buena Gardens Festival. This all-Native comedy show cultivates joy and community while tackling clichés about Native American life. Hosted by Oakland stand-up comic Jackie Keliiaa, the event features comedians Gigi Modrich, Ernie Tsosie and Dash Turner. Take BART to Montgomery St. and walk about 0.3 miles to Yerba Buena Gardens.
Sundown Cinema: The Princess Bride

Check out The Princess Bride at this outdoor screening at Dolores Park on Friday. The film begins after sunset (around 8:30 p.m.). Be sure to bring a blanket and warm clothes for this 1987 pop culture classic, directed by Rob Reiner. Dolores Park is located a short walk (about 0.6 miles) from the 16th St. Mission BART Station.
Northern California Soy and Tofu Festival

The Northern California Soy and Tofu Festival returns this year for another celebration of the joy of soy. Find unique creations from soy and tofu vendors, free samples, live performances, cooking demos and workshops. Kids can join the fun with the Soy-ful Youth Art Contest. The festival will be held at the Event Center at St. Mary’s Cathedral, about 0.9 miles from Civic Center/UN Plaza.
Fiesta Cultural Street Fair

Celebrate Latin American arts and culture at Fiesta Cultural in Walnut Creek this weekend. Featuring a series of vibrant events and performances at the Lesher Center for the Arts, the Street Fair highlights music and dance from the diverse cultures of Latin America. The programming also includes workshops, a children’s book reading and a film screening. The Walnut Creek Station is just 0.5 miles away from the festivities.
Head West Marketplace - Hayes Valley

11 a.m.-5 p.m. | Hayes St. at Patricia’s Green
The Head West Marketplace heads to Hayes Valley this Sunday, with dozens of local makers and small businesses selling their goods. With live music and sellers featuring everything from jewelry to pottery, there is plenty to explore at the market. A special “vintage row” section also includes vintage clothing sellers. The Marketplace is located about 0.6 miles from the Civic Center/UN Plaza.

Chucho Valdés Royal Quartet

Chucho Valdés is bringing his Royal Quartet project to the SF Jazz Center (SFJAZZ) for a series of performances. The composer, pianist, arranger and bandleader is one of the most influential figures in modern Afro-Cuban jazz. The Royal Quartet includes a masterful lineup of Cuban-born instrumentalists, including bassist José Armando Gola, drummer Horacio “El Negro” Hernández and percussionist Roberto Jr. Vizcaino. The SF Jazz Center is 0.5 miles from Civic Center/UN Plaza.
Ferry Fun Fair

Children’s Fairyland in Oakland hosts the Ferry Fun Fair this weekend, with a full day of carnival games, live performances and other county fair fun. The festivities include bouncy houses, face painting, carnival game booths, circus eats and circus performances. Bring the family, and join the fun on June 13th. The Ferry Fun Fair is about 0.6 miles from 19th St. Oakland.
Pickwick Vintage Show

For fashionable vintage finds, head to the mezzanine of the Ferry Building for the Pickwick Vintage Show, featuring clothing, jewelry and accessories from more than 40 local vendors. Shoppers will find a rotating mix of local sellers that celebrate style and sustainability. You might just find a new coat for the chilly summer in San Francisco. The Ferry Building is located just 0.3 miles from Embarcadero.
Ballet Folklórico México Danza

Ballet Folklórico México Danza celebrates its 35th anniversary with a performance of classic folklórico favorites. For fans of ballet and dance, this is an opportunity to experience the energy, choreography and costumes that make Mexican folk dance unique and memorable. Feel free to dress up for the occasion. This performance will be held at the Henry J. Kaiser Center for the Arts in Oakland, 0.3 miles from Lake Merritt BART.
