With the holidays fast approaching, we know that there's a lot to get done with a short amount of time left. This weekend, there's a lot you can do to check people off your gift giving list and have some fun. From holiday gift fairs to art walks and a lantern festival to a Fairy Winterland, there's BARTable fun on both sides of the Bay.

On the second Friday of the month, a group of galleries and businesses in the Jingletown and Alameda arts districts to promote art and culture in the community. Select studios and galleries will open their doors to support the local arts from 6-9pm. Take BART to Fruitvale and walk 10 minutes to Jingletown Art Studios.
Fisherman’s Wharf 2019 Lighted Boat Parade by Embarcadero
The oldest and largest lighted holiday boat parade on the San Francisco Bay is at Fisherman’s Wharf on Friday from 6-8pm. Happening rain or shine, boats decked out with lights and holiday décor will parade along the waterfront past Fisherman’s Wharf to Crissy Field. Get there early for the best views from Aquatic Park, PIER 39, the Marina Green and Crissy Field. Take BART to Embarcadero and then transfer to Muni F to Fisherman’s Wharf.
Winterfest at OMCA by Lake Merritt
Celebrate diverse winter traditions reflected in the Bay Area, including Christmas, Hanukkah and Kwanzaa. Enjoy storytime with the Oakland Public Library, winter-themed activities, and more. Create a candle to take home as Friday Nights at OMCA wraps up for 2019. This event is free but admission is needed to view any of the museum exhibits. Take BART to Lake Merritt and walk four minutes to the museum.
East Bay Bike Party: Super SMASH Pedals by El Cerrito del Norte
Get your bike ready to super smash those pedals at the East Bay Bike Party. The ride happens rain or shine so bring cold weather layers and lots of lights. Take BART to El Cerrito del Norte and meet the bike party at 7:30pm. Ride starts at 8pm.
The Emperor Norton's Holiday Bazaar & Drag Show by Embarcadero
Featuring the cream of the crop from San Francisco’s House of MORE! queens, Emperor Norton Holiday Bazaar Drag Show is packed with enough campy holiday tunes to fuel all your merrymaking. The show starts at 5:30pm. Emperor Norton’s Holiday Bazaar is the perfect event to gather with your community this holiday season with classic holiday decorations, cozy resting spaces, unique gifts for purchase, soul-warming food and live performances. Take BART to Embarcadero and walk seven minutes to the Salesforce Transit Center (Fremont St & Natoma St).
Be treated to an abundance of good cheer, great music, fine food, with unique and unusual handcrafts by some of Northern California’s finest artists. The Telegraph Avenue Holiday Street Fair is Saturday & Sunday from 11am-6pm between Dwight & Bancroft Way. Take BART to Downtown Berkeley and the fair is a few blocks from the station.
Fairy Winterland by 19th St/Oakland
Experience the multicultural magic of Fairy Winterland when Children’s Fairyland transforms with twinkly lights and festive décor. Catch the clickety-clack of the world-famous Tap-Dancing Christmas Trees, holiday puppet shows, hop on the Jolly Trolly, and watch as Black Santa hears children’s wishes and leads the Festival of Lights parade. Admission is $12 and Fairyland is open from 12-7pm. Take BART to 19th St/Oakland and walk 12 minutes to Fairyland.
Girl Gang Craft was started by Phoebe Sherman as an empowering forum for women creators and business owners to connect, be supported, and bring their products to the forefront. The holiday market in Oakland (at the Oakland Scottish Rite Center) will present an all-female vendor list providing “fine art, ceramics, jewelry, vintage, tarot, reiki, herbs,” and more. DJ Trippy Toya will be on hand spinning, and plenty of drinks will complement the shopping. With all the enticing styles and self-care goods on hand, it might be hard to remember you’re not just shopping for yourself. Take BART to Lake Merritt and walk nine minutes to Oakland Scottish Rite Center.
17th Annual Parol Lantern Festival & Parade by Montgomery St
It’s the time of the year again, when the community starts making their parol lanterns and holiday decor to adorn their houses for the yuletide season and the 17th Annual Parol Lantern Festival & Parade. Honor the various journeys in a shared space illuminated by parol lanterns and energized by performances, live music, and games. This event is free and begins at 4pm. Take BART to Montgomery St and walk six minutes to Jessie Square.
Macy’s Union Square Cooking Demo with Chef Linda Shiue, MD by Powell St
Who says the holidays can't be healthy? Join a cooking demo at Macy’s Union Square at the Cellar Demonstration Kitchen from 2-4pm with Chef Linda Shiue, MD, from Kaiser Permanente San Francisco's Thrive Kitchen. She’ll serve up nutritious, crowd-pleasing appetizers for you to try and teach you how to replicate them all for your holiday celebrations. Take BART to Powell St and walk eight minutes to Macy’s Union Square.
Unsilent Night by 16th St Mission
Unsilent Night is a participatory sound artwork by composer Phil Kline, an ethereal, electronic soundscape played by the audience on boomboxes carried through city streets. Each participant gets one of four tracks of music in the form of a cassette, CD, or MP3. All four tracks played simultaneously comprise Unsilent Night. This event begins at 7pm and all you need is something that amplifies music. Take BART to 16th St Mission and walk 14 minutes to Mission Dolores Park.
California College of the Arts (CCA) was originally named School of the California Guild of Arts and Crafts when it was founded in Berkeley in 1907. The name has since changed, but this SFMade Holiday Fair pays homage to those crafty roots when it brings more than 60 local vendors to the SF school site. Because art always makes a great gift, CCA students will be on hand selling their work alongside purveyors of apparel, gourmet foods, accessories, and more. Take BART to 16th St Mission and hop on the 22 Muni bus for eight minutes to California College of the Arts.
Camron-Stanford Annual Holiday Open House by Lake Merritt
Celebrate the holidays at the Camron-Stanford House with a free open house. The doors will be open to explore festive period rooms and the current exhibit. Tours are at 1pm, 2pm, and 3pm. Take BART to Lake Merritt and walk five minutes to the house.
