It's finally, officially here... SUMMER! Kick off the first weekend of one of our favorite seasons of the year with one of these events that are only a BART ride away.

Alameda County Fair Supercross

Alameda County Fair (June 14-July 7) by Dublin/Pleasanton

Grab your friends and family, the Alameda County Fair is here! The Fair has no shortage of activities and things to check out: horse racing, shopping, concerts, a carnival and an action sports arena, to name a few. This weekend features the Cocktail Fest, Hat Contest, Out at the Fair, Super Cross Nationals and more. Take BART to Dublin/Pleasanton and catch the WHEELS Fair Shuttle (Route 52) to the fairgrounds.

Live on the Square by Lake Merritt or 12th St./Oakland City Center

Learn to swing dance at Jack London Square's Live on the Square. This free festival features entertainment, food and fun along with week dance lessons. Each event begins with a popular 30-minute dance lesson taught by Dance-A-Vision Entertainment found, Carla Service and then you can try out your new moves at the public dance party. This festival is 6 to 11pm at Jack London Square. Take BART to either Lake Merritt and walk 10 minutes or to 12th Street/Oakland City Center and walk 14 minutes. You can also take the free Broadway B Shuttle to and from 12th St./Oakland City Center until 10pm. 

San Francisco City Hall Lights Up Purple at Civic Center/UN Plaza

Get your camera ready and be there for when San Francisco City Hall lights up purple in honor of Alzheimer and Brain Awareness Month. At sunset, over 220 state-of-the art LED lighting fixtures will illuminate City Hall's exterior purple. Take BART to Civic Center/UN Plaza and walk 3 minutes to City Hall.

Yerba Buena Gardens Festival by Montgomery St. or Powell St.

The YBG Festival is dedicated to presenting long-term and free arts and cultural programs that reflect the cultures and creativity of the Bay Area. This weekend, Circus Bella will be performing "Up in the Air: Relishing the Joy of Uncertainty." This outdoor circus delights in the totally unexpected, with circus feats, ringleader surprises and aerial splendor. All programs are outdoors, family-friendly and ADA accessible. Admission is free. Take BART to either Montgomery St. or Powell St. and walk 10 minutes to the gardens at 750 Howard St.

SF Parkour International Jam 2019 by Downtown Berkeley

Running, climbing, swinging, vaulting, jumping, rolling ... you name it, parkour has it. Traceurs and traceuses come from all over to join SF Parkour International Jam 2019. This is bound to be the biggest summer jam yet so go see what the Bay Area has to offer in terms or parkour and community. The jam start at 10am at Springer Gateway, UC Berkeley and is free to watch. Take BART to Downtown Berkeley and walk 6 minutes to Springer Gateway.

Lakefest Oakland 2019 by 19th St./Oakland 

Celebrate summer at Lakefest Oakland 2019 this Saturday from 11am to 8pm. With hundreds of artists, vendors, entrepreneurs and community leaders, this event has something for everyone. Visit the Beirgarten with craft beers and cold cocktails, the Kid Zone with jump castles and games and you can't forget about the Food Zone. Take BART to 19th St./Oakland and take a leisurely walk down to Lake Merritt's Lakeside Park. 

Walking Tours of San Francisco by Downtown SF Stations

Have you ever explored the local alleys and walk down the streets of the oldest Chinatown in the US? Or take a walk through one of San Francisco's most renowned historic landmarks while learning about the rise, tragic fall and modern rebirth of the Ferry Building? How about going back in time to the 1906: Earthquake and Fire? Join the one of the many free history and architectural walking tours offered by Walking Tours of San Francisco. With many tours located near Downtown San Francisco BART Stations, the complete schedule and meeting locations can be found on their website

Noe Valley SummerFEST by 24th St. Mission 

The 10th Annual Noe Valley SummerFEST is filled with fun activities for the whole community. Take a nostalgic ride in a horse-drawn wagon down 24th Street, visit an alpaca at the petting zoo and young and old artists can enter into the chalk drawing contest. SummerFEST is from 11am to 4pm in the Noe Valley Town Square. Take BART to 24th St. Mission and walk 10 minutes to the Town Square at 24th and Sanchez streets. 

Pride Comedy Night by Downtown Berkeley

The producer of San Francisco’s acclaimed annual Kung Pao Kosher Comedy™ (Jewish comedy on Christmas in a Chinese Restaurant) and numerous other Bay Area comedy shows presents Pride Comedy Night, a LGBT comedy fest at Freight & Salvage in Berkeley on Sunday, June 23, at 7pm. Comedy producer/comedian, Lisa Geduldig, and friends return to Freight & Salvage after testing the comedy waters there last summer. Pride Comedy Night will feature a very funny, diverse, eclectic array of Bay Area, LA, and Santa Cruz-based LGBT comedians who span a few generations of comedy and have been performing for between 10 and 30 years. This multicultural (Latina, African American, Jewish) line up consists of Marga Gomez, Sampson McCormick, Karinda Dobbins and Lisa Geduldig. Tickets can be bought in advance online for $25 or $30 at the door. Take BART to Downtown Berkeley and walk 3 minutes to Freight & Salvage. 

SFMOMA Andy Warhol - From A to B and Back Again by Montgomery St.

Now through Sept. 2, see the work of on of the most inventive, influential and important American artists, Andy Warhol, at the SFMOMA. Featuring a dozen works unique to this museum and stretching across three floors, this exhibition reveals new complexities about the Warhol we think we know and introduces a Warhol for the 21st century. Take BART to Montgomery St. and walk 6 minutes to the SFMOMA.
