Are you looking for something heartening and good for your sheltered-in-place soul?  International music ensemble Bokanté (which means "exchange" in Creole) is made up of 8 musicians from 4 continents, all accomplished in their own right with two two-time Grammy award-winning guitarists and other members from the likes of Snarky Puppy, Paul Simon, Sting and Yo-Yo Ma, who headline the SFJAZZ "Fridays at Five" with a joyous performance from September 2018. With sounds of Led Zeppelin, Afropop and folkloric Caribbean styles and soaring vocals, the music and lyrics paint unflinching portraits of joy, protest, racism, triumph, crisis, hope, and unity.

Dr. Irving Baer and his daytime television show reach millions of women across America.  They rely on him for everything from weight loss tips to how they can manifest their destinies.  When a take-down piece of journalism goes viral, one thing becomes clear; if Baer is going to fall from grace, he’s bringing everyone else with him.  Watch as Berkeley’s Shotgun Players offer this digital production both Friday and Saturday at 7pm.  Tickets are required and available on “pay-what-you-can” levels.  Stick around after the show for a "talk back" with members of the Shotgun Players community.

Sing for Justice!

Exercise your activism and raise your voice in song with incredible vocalists from all around the Bay Area.  “Spiritualing” is a beautiful way to create joy and healing while exercising activism.  Inspired by the tradition of African-American Spirituals, it is a powerful expression of the Black experience.  Join the virtual event with the theme “Sing for Justice!” from 4-5:30pm.  Click here to purchase donation-based tickets.

Stay at Home Concert World Tour: Soulrocker House Party

Join the Soulrocker House Party with Oakland-born musician and humanitarian Michael Franti from your own home.  Michael has been performing a one-of-a-kind online concert experience that is as uniquely moving and entertaining as if it was in person.  Join him and the Soulrocker Family at 6pm for the LIVE experience and an escape the entertainers are proud to offer as only they can while we continue to stay at home.  Tickets are $22 and can be purchased here.

Free Shakespeare in the Park

Are you missing outdoor theater?  When you can't go to the theater, let the theater come to you.  "Free Shakespeare in the Park" has a new name... "Free Shakespeare at Home".  The SF Shakespeare Festival has creatively devised a plan to bring a LIVE performance of "King Lear" to the streaming world.  The 7pm performance will present a professional production with artists acting live from their homes, synthesized by SF Shakes, and directly to you.  Click here to enter the SF Shakes "at home" theater.

Stern Grove's "Best of the Fest" 2020 Virtual Season Finale
