Berkeley’s The Rec Room is a quick walk from Ashby Station and has been giving parents relief since 2015. Hosting an all-day play space and engaging, imaginative drop-in workshops and classes geared toward kids ages 6 months to 12 years old, it’s also outfitted with a cafe for parents to enjoy some getaway time without having to go too far away. Kids can sing along during Folk Songs with Grandpa Clyde and adults can bask in a timeout during the aptly named Parent Time Out! sessions, during which children participate in guided play without need for parental hovering. There’s also yoga, dancing and even gardening for kids.
