Quizzing and quaffing in SF

The ultimate drinking game, trivia night will never go out of style. When you’re on the couch there’s Jeopardy! with Alex Trebek to keep your mental archive of miscellaneous facts in check. In real life? Your local trivia night is a bit more social, and dare we say, less stuffy. Likely offering pints rather than prize money, bars and pubs can get rowdy with competitive players forming teams for fun and games.
And where there’s a trivia caller, there’s a devoted crowd antsy to pool minds and pitchers throughout the session. Put all that random (and usually pointless) information you’ve stored in the nooks and crannies of your noggin to good use at one of these San Francisco BARTable trivia nights. Bring a crew or join new friends and let the games begin.

A true Irish pub with a Wednesday trivia night that lures the masses as much as the Guinness, Napper Tandy in the Mission operates under the motto, “You are a stranger here but once.” Feel at home and part of the (Irish) family two minutes from 24th St/Mission BART as you dig into the fully stocked array of beers and spirits, baskets of wings or fries and hearty (but homemade!) pub food in a lively sports bar atmosphere.

Gourmet sausages, craft beers and carefully devised questions are on the menu during Rosamunde Sausage Grill’s Tuesday trivia night from 7:30 to 9:30pm at its San Francisco location on Mission Street. Can’t get enough? You can head to the other side of the bridge for the Oakland branch in Swan’s Marketplace for its Wednesday trivia night. Let the bartenders pour from the taps of fine beers as you tap your brain for the winning answers.
