Proof that free trade of prized goods is possible, the Free Farm Stand is an all-volunteer operation distributing locally grown organic produce to those with low incomes and tight budgets. Yes, it’s worthy of a double take: free organic harvest for all. Under the helm of a longtime San Francisco urban ag celebrity known as Mr. Tree, FFS always welcomes volunteers to help disseminate the veggies, fruits and plant starts it garners for the public from noon to 3pm each Sunday. You can also get your hands dirty down the street at the related All in Common Garden that grows organic produce for the neighborhood; drop in Tuesdays 1pm to 3pm and Sundays noon to 3pm.
