Your guide to bike share and BART
If you’ve seen a brightly-colored Ford GoBike rolling around town and have wondered how you could get your hands on one, you’re in luck because there are thousands of bikes available to use across San Francisco and the East Bay with many of the bikes available at or near BART stations.
What is bike share?
Bike share is a fun and affordable way to get around town. Rent a bike from numerous docks positioned around the Bay Area. Bike share works best for short trips and when complemented with public transit. Use it to commute, run errands or explore the city.
Where can I find a bike?
Bikes are ready to use at 16 BART stations.
Here is a list of the stations that have bikes available now, either right outside the station or within a block of the station:
- 12th St./Oakland (Frank H Ogawa Plaza, Franklin and 14th Street)
- 16th St. Mission (two bike docks)
- 19th St./Oakland
- 24th St. Mission (Valencia and 24th streets)
- Civic Center/UN Plaza (McAllister and Market streets)
- Downtown Berkeley (Center Street and Shattuck Avenue)
- Embarcadero (Beale and Market streets)
- Lake Merritt
- Montgomery (2nd and Market streets)
- North Berkeley
- Powell St (5th and Market Street)
- West Oakland
How do I get started?
Bikes are available for one-way trips, all-day rides or annual membership. To purchase a one-way trip, you’ll need the Ford GoBike app. A day pass can be purchased in-person at the kiosk without a smartphone. GoBike also offers a Bike Share for All program for residents of the Bay Area who qualify. See if you’re eligible on the GoBike website.
