It's the time of year where haunts reign supreme and we all are looking for the thrill of Halloween but without paying an arm and a leg. We've found some wicked cheap Halloween events that are under $20... and BARTable! From family friendly to adult only, there are events for everyone. Get your costumes ready and cue the haunted music...

Sundown Cinema | Film Night in the Park: Hocus Pocus (Oct 18) by 16th St Mission

Disney’s ultimate Halloween movie "Hocus Pocus" is the feature film for Sundown Cinema’s Film Night in the Park on Friday, October 18 at Dolores Park beginning at sunset. This free event is sure to raise some spirits in the park… Beware, the Sanderson Sisters may just appear. Take BART to 16th St Mission and walk 15 minutes to Dolores Park.

Camron-Stanford Night Tour (Oct 19) by Lake Merritt

See Lake Merritt’s landmark Victorian mansion in a whole new light. Take a special candlelit, shadow-filled tour of the Camron-Stanford’s Morbid Desire exhibit and enjoy a drink and some spooky fun on the veranda before or after your tour. This is for one night only on October 19 from 6-8pm and a limited number of tickets are available online for $10. Take BART to Lake Merritt and walk seven minutes to the mansion.

Trick or Treat | Walnut Creek Downtown (Oct 25) by Walnut Creek

Calling all ghouls, goblins, superheroes, princesses and witches under 12! Walnut Creek invites you to trick-or-treat through downtown at participating businesses. This annual tradition is free so come dressed up in your favorite Halloween costume and get into the spooky spirit with your family. Take BART to Walnut Creek and walk 13 minutes to City Hall Plaza.

Halloween Club Crawl | San Francisco (Oct 25) by Civic Center/UN Plaza

Dance and drink the night away on Friday, October 25 at the San Francisco Halloween Club Crawl. Throw on your best costume and enjoy drink specials, DJs and more at some great San Francisco bars. The crawl begins at Mayes on Polk St at 6pm and goes to 11pm. Tickets range from $5-15 (but don’t include drinks) and are available online. This event is 21+. Take BART to Civic Center/UN Plaza and walk 20 minutes to Polk St.

Halloween Bash at Small World Park (Oct 26) by Pittsburgh Center

The annual family fun Halloween Bash at Small World Park is on Saturday, October 26 from 12-5pm. From magic shows, pony rides, live music and a costume parade, this is bound to be fun for the whole family. Kids 10 and under are $2 (or free with canned goods) and adults are $4. Take BART to Pittsburgh Center and the park is a 15-minute walk away.

Crawloween | San Francisco Halloween Pub Crawl (Oct 26) by Civic Center/UN Plaza

The biggest Halloween pub crawl in San Francisco is back, bigger than ever and taking over Polk St on Saturday, October 26 between 12-10pm. With 20 bars on the Crawl, there are a lot of spots to hit in a short period of time. The best part of this crawl? There’s a free shuttle that you can hop on and off as you please that runs from 3-8pm. Think you have the best costume? Enter the costume contest for your chance at over $2,000 in cash and prizes. Tickets are currently $15 (not including drinks) until October 18 and then the price jumps to $25. This event is 21+. Take BART to Civic Center/UN Plaza and walk 20 minutes to Polk St.

Halloween Hoopla at Yerba Buena Gardens (Oct 27) by Powell St

Yerba Buena Gardens’ 19th annual Halloween Hoopla is Sunday, October 27 from 12-2pm in the Children’s Garden near the LeRoy King Carousel. This event features interactive performances and games for kids under 10 and the Pumpkin Patch display. There’s also a Halloween Costume Parade where everyone is welcome to show off their finest Halloween attire. This is a free event and great for families. Take BART to Powell St and walk seven minutes to the gardens.

San Francisco Halloween: Adult Trick ‘R Treating Pub Crawl (Oct 31) by Civic Center/UN Plaza

Celebrate Halloween and enjoy drink specials, DJs, dancing and more at the Annual San Francisco Halloween Pub Crawl hosted by CrawlSF. The crawl will take place on Thursday, October 31 from 6-11pm. Throw on an awesome Halloween Costume and join the fun! Tickets range from $5-$12 (not including drinks) and are available online. This event is 21+. Take BART to Civic Center/UN Plaza and walk 20 minutes to Polk St.

Exploratorium After Dark: Halloween (Oct 31) by Embarcadero

Get ready for a refreshingly nerdy Halloween treat at the Exploratorium After Dark: Halloween edition on October 31 from 6-10pm. It’ll be a night filled with fun and spooky Bay Area favorites including Nerd Nite, Awesome Orchestra, and Odd Salon. Costumes are highly encouraged for this utterly eerie evening. Tickets are available online for $19.95 and the event is 18+. Take BART to Embarcadero and walk 10 minutes to the Exploratorium.
