Feel like a kid again at the St. Francis Fountain in San Francisco’s Mission District. It is the City’s oldest ice cream fountain, established in 1918. It’s just a ten minute walk or five minute bus ride on the 48 Muni from the 24th Street BART Station.

Check out the classic red and white striped décor with round counter stools and cozy booths. Friendly staff will create a one-of-a-kind classic ice cream milkshake for you in a tall fountain glass, complete with whipped cream and a cherry on top. The larger shakes are served in classic stainless steel cups.

Choose from traditional flavors like chocolate, vanilla and strawberry or go with something new like hazelnut or banana. No matter which flavor you choose, they’re all blended at the perfect consistency.

Be sure to take a look at some antique stainless steel milkshake mixers that are on display as some have up to six blades. Retro candy is available for sale as well.

Accessibility in and around this shop is limited. Restrooms need to be updated to accommodate all patrons.
