The Mechanics' Institute Library and Chess Room

This historic membership based library is home to a cultural event center, chess club, and library all in the heart of the Financial District in San Francisco. The library houses all subjects including "literature, arts, history, philosophy, business, finance, and hard-to-find periodicals." In addition to their library collections, the Mechanics' Institute also "houses the oldest continuously operating chess club in the United States."
