It first opened shop in 1977, and Oakland’s La Farine continues to bring the refined flavors of a French patisserie to the Rockridge neighborhood. As expected, the formidable croissant reigns supreme at this quaint College Avenue locale. But when you’re up for something more indulgent, there’s also the Swiss Twinkie (filled with a nut puree), the Orange Currant Scone or the savory Pate Feuilleté (filled with ham and cheese). Don’t worry, there’s more than just pastries: loaves of bread, cookies, cakes and tortes are also finger-kissing good. We say, Oui!
