This weekend, some of our favorite happenings include shrunken kids on the big screen, a light parade in the streets and a flea market for punks and metalheads. It's all right here and it's all easily accessible via BART.

Yemen Blues by Downtown Berkeley 

Hailed by NPR, Time Out and National Geographic for some of the most exciting music happening today, Yemen Blues blends Yemenite Jewish culture and ancient Arabic sounds with danceable Afro Funk grooves. In this special project, dive into Hallel into the deepest secrets that well up through those words of praise, which tell the story of each of us as human beings before the maker and as individuals in this world. Yemen Blues will be at Freight & Salvage Coffeehouse, just half a block away from Downtown Berkeley. Tickets are available online and range from $44-$48. 

Macy's Union Square | Renovation Celebration (until Nov. 10) by Powell St

To celebrate recent updates and new offerings at Macy’s Union Square, the store will be hosting a series of special events and celebrations for customers. Meet home design experts and learn about furniture VR and customization, enjoy a cuddles experience from adorable animals, join the Parade in a Box crafting event and much more. Make sure to stop by the Embarcadero Neighborhood for your chance to snap a photo with our very own BARTy, The BARTMobile. Take BART to Powell St and walk three minutes to Macy's Union Square. 

Friday Nights at OMCA by Lake Merritt

Sit back and unwind at Friday Nights at OMCA, bringing you the best of local cuisine along with music, dance, and late-night access to the entire museum. Enjoy hands-on activities for kids and a lineup of live music and dance from different local performers each week. Bring friends and family for a taste of local music, food, and culture at the Oakland Museum of California from 5-10pm. The event is free, but some exhibits may require an entry fee. Take BART to Lake Merritt and walk three minutes to the museum. 

Salesforce Park Movie Nights: Honey, I Shrunk the Kids by Montgomery St 

Enjoy a free movie in Salesforce Park under the stars on Friday at the park's amphitheater. The first movie is a 90s kid favorite, Honey, I Shrunk the Kids (Rated: PG) at 6pm. Pre-registration via Eventbrite is required for priority seating and anyone who has not pre-registered will be allowed in on a first-come, first-served basis five minutes before the movie starts. Get there early and stake out a good spot! The lawn opens at 4:30pm. Take BART to Montgomery St and walk seven minutes to the park.

Castro Valley Electric Light Parade & Street Party by Castro Valley

If it walks, dances, drives, and can be decorated with lights, it can be in the 2019 Castro Valley Light Parade. Stroll in the street for the party and then stick around for the light parade at 5:30pm. The fun begins at 3pm and lasts till 9pm. Take BART to Castro Valley and walk 10 minutes to Santa Maria Ave and Castro Valley Blvd.

Holiday Ice Rink in Union Square (until Jan 20, 2020) by Powell St

The Holiday Ice Rink in Union Square returns to San Francisco's iconic plaza surrounded by festive lights, and the sights and sounds of the season. From families to friends to coworkers, everyone can enjoy this outdoor ice skating experience. This San Francisco holiday tradition is at Union Square from now until January 20 and is only a three minute walk from Powell St station. Tickets start at $13 and are available online.

San Francisco Tweed Bicycle Ride & Dapper Picnic by Civic Center/UN Plaza

Put on your most dapper tweed, grab a bicycle, and join the merriment at this one-of-a-kind bicycle event as the San Francisco Tweed Ride rolls again with a leisurely ride, picnic and rolling tweed fashion show through the city. The fun begins at noon and lasts until 5pm. Take BART to Civic Center/UN Plaza or 16th St Mission and ride 12 minutes to Duboce Park.

Punk/Metal Flea Market by 12th St/Oakland City Center

Come join a gathering of punks and metalheads as they bring you records, comic books, zines, DIY arts and crafts, art pieces, jewelry, memorabilia, toys and much, much more. Additionally, several bands will be performing. Take BART to 12th St/Oakland City Center and walk 13 minutes to the Oakland Metro Operahouse.
