We're in full holiday mode in BARTable land. What does that mean for you? In addition to 10 weeks of prizes, there are plenty of festive occasions taking place right here in the Bay, just outside BART's door. See our picks for this weekend below.
 
Friday BARTable This Weekend by BART
The annual Building Lighting Ceremony at Embarcadero Center is sure to dazzle.
 
To celebrate the official start of the holiday season in San Francisco, visit the Embarcadero Center’s Building Lighting Ceremony. Four iconic buildings will be lit with 17,000 holiday lights and Disney on Ice will provide entertainment. Festivities start at 4pm with a family fun carnival, followed by the lighting ceremony at 6pm. Admission is free. Take BART to Embarcadero and walk four minutes to the Embarcadero Center.
 
“Mole” is a Mexican sauce made from chili peppers, other spices and, most importantly, chocolate. Mole lovers are invited to participate in the “Mole Para Morirse” (Mole To Die For) contest, where the audience will get a chance to taste a variety of regional mole entries and vote for their favorites. The deliciousness runs from 6:30-10pm. Take BART to 24th St Mission and walk one minute to the Mission Cultural Center for Latino Arts.
 
Those that love the thrill around extreme sports will love Cirque du Soleil’s VOLTA. Never-before-seen Big Top acrobatics will be paired with a stirring melodic score and set in a visually striking world. Tickets range from $54-$290 and can be bought online. Saturday BARTable This Weekend by BART
The Bears take on the Cardinals on Saturday at California Memorial Stadium.
 
Cal vs. Stanford Football Game at Downtown Berkeley
Saturday's 121st version of the Big Game between Cal and Stanford is scheduled to kick off at 4:37 p.m. from California Memorial Stadium. With 60,000+ fans going to the game, BART will be running more trains to handle the crowds. To get to the game, take BART to Downtown Berkeley and walk 25 minutes or take the free shuttle to the stadium.
 
From now until Jan. 20, the Holiday Ice Rink in Union Square will be offering free lessons every Saturday and Sunday morning from 8:30-9:30am. Signups are limited, to be sure to RSVP. If you’re already a champion ice skater, the rink will have regular hours from 10am to 11:30pm. Take BART to Powell St and walk seven minutes to Union Square.
 
If it walks, dances, drives, and can be decorated with lights, it is eligible to be in the 2018 Castro Valley Light Parade. Stroll in the street for the party and then stick around for the annual electric light parade at 5:30 pm. The event is free, but register in advance if you wish to participate in the parade. Take BART to Castro Valley and walk six minutes to Castro Valley Blvd. and Redwood Rd.
 
Sunday BARTable This Weekend by BART
"Wonderland: Alice's Rock and Roll Adventure" premieres this Sunday.
 
Wonderland: Alice’s Rock and Roll Adventure at Downtown Berkeley
Lewis Carroll’s characters from his beloved tales will be coming to life in this lively rock and roll performance. Bring your family and tumble into Wonderland, where everything will get “curiouser and curiouser” as Alice questions who she is and what her destiny will be. Recommended for ages 5 to 12. Tickets range from $17-$28 and can be bought online. Take BART to Downtown Berkeley and walk two minutes to the BACT Berkeley Center, The Osher Studio.
