"The Cans - A Burlesque and Film Event"

Powered by Goldstar logo

Enjoy an evening of burlesque, both live and onscreen, when The Cans - A Burlesque and Film Event screens the classic 1962 film Gypsy, starring Natalie Wood as striptease legend Gypsy Rose Lee and Rosalind Russell as her overbearing stage mother. Thoroughly unique in the world of burlesque, Gypsy Rose Lee removed her clothes while sharing her intellect and witty banter with enraptured audiences. Then, in homage to a song and dance number from Gypsy called "You Gotta Have a Gimmick," you'll see a live burlesque show hosted by MC Tygre Wolfe, with gyrations from the tassel-twirling Lady Monster, along with Rasa Vitalia and Red Velvet. In addition, there will a discussion about the history and artistry of burlesque. Experience this sure-to-be-lively event at the Center For Sex And Culture in San Francisco.
